One base, endless routes – check in, explore, come back

Imagine: every morning a fresh start in a new direction – and each evening a familiar hotel already waiting for you. No question of what to do with your luggage, no searching for the next room. Just arrive, unwind, and find yourself looking forward to tomorrow's ride.

That's exactly what centre cycling tours are. From the North Sea coast to Umbria, from Lake Constance to Stockholm – always with a well-placed base hotel as your starting point. A different route every day, the same place every evening. Cycling holidays, as relaxed as they get.

Unpack once – and enjoy the rest of the week

The biggest difference from a point-to-point tour: you unpack once – and only pack again on the last day. You already know the hotel, and your room too. No early-morning sorting, no deliberating over what fits in the pannier, no searching for a new reception desk. You come back in the evening and you're already home.

That gives the holiday a quality all its own. You know yesterday's restaurant, the route from the hotel to the market square, the waiter who already knows how you take your coffee. This familiarity – right in the middle of a new region – is the real appeal of a centre tour. Exploring and feeling at home, all at once.

A fresh choice every morning

Every centre tour comes with a suggested route for each day – a ride that takes in the highlights of the region and gives you a good starting point. Whether you follow the suggestion, adapt it, or simply take a quiet day instead is entirely up to you. No fixed itinerary, no group pressure, no feeling of falling behind.

+And if a rainy day comes along or your legs need a rest: a day without cycling is completely fine on a centre tour. A stroll around town, a café, a good book – or simply sitting on the hotel terrace and enjoying the view. The freedom to shape the day however it feels right is at the heart of the centre tour. It's good to have the choice.

From the North Sea to Umbria – the finest locations

Our range of centre tours stretches from the German North Sea coast to Scandinavia, from Lake Constance to Italy – always with a well-placed base hotel as your starting point. Every location is chosen to offer enough variety for several days: different routes in different directions, with changing landscapes and destinations.

Particularly popular are our tours at the Mecklenburg Lake District, at Lake Lucerne, and in Umbria – the full selection is in the tour tiles above.

Who are centre cycling tours right for?

Centre cycling tours work particularly well for anyone who values flexibility on holiday and doesn't want to commit to a fixed plan every morning. The group sets its own pace – whether to take the long loop or the short one, add a detour or turn back on a whim. And every evening, you always know exactly where you are.

They're also a great option for families with young children: the little ones only have to settle into new surroundings once, and the daily rides can be adapted to suit the energy and mood of the whole group. If you like cycling holidays without a set schedule – but still want to know where you're sleeping each night – a centre tour is exactly right for you.

Frequently asked questions about centre cycling tours

Are centre tours suitable if I'm not a very experienced cyclist?
Yes. Many of our centre tours have a stage length rating of 1–2 and a topography rating of 1–2 on our five-point scale – which corresponds to 30 to 45 kilometres per day on predominantly flat terrain. These tours are expressly suited to occasional cyclists.

How far are the daily routes?
That depends on the tour. Day rides on our centre tours are typically between 30 and 60 kilometres – shorter or longer depending on the route. You'll find the exact figures in the individual tour descriptions.

Can I hire a bike for a centre tour?
Yes. Hire bikes are available on all our centre tours – e-bikes and, at many locations, children's equipment such as tag-alongs and junior bikes. Which bike types are available at each location can be confirmed when you make your booking enquiry.
