Day 1: Individual Arrival in Treves
Discover 2000 years of history in 2000 steps: From the Roman city gate Porta Nigra and the Roman House of Three Kings to the rococo palace of the Elector ‒ within its walls Treves can show you a lot of German history. Definitely try the Riesling wines here from the Mosel-Ruwer region, before your cycling tour from Treves really begins tomorrow.
Day 2: Treves – Saarburg – Treves, approx. 50 km
You will spend most of the first day of your cycling tour from Treves along the Saar. You start along the Upper Moselle and soon reach the medieval town of Saarburg. In the middle of the town you will come across a waterfall that plunges almost 20 metres into the depths. Pay a visit to the Saarburg castle ruins and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Saar valley. Cycle leisurely back to Treves via the towns of Tawern and Konz, where the Saar flows into the Moselle. In the evening, look forward to a wine tasting and let the quality of the famous Moselle wines convince you. In addition, you will enjoy delicious vintner's tapas on the slate plate.
Day 3: Treves – Bitburg – Treves, approx. 55 km + train ride
Take the train (ticket not included) to Bitburg-Erdorf. You can look forward to a guided tour of the brewery and learn more about the brewing process. Of course, you will not be denied a taste. Grab your bike and explore the tranquil Kyll valley. In the narrow valley you always cycle close to the course of the river through fascinating natural landscapes. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the magnificent panorama! At Ehrang, the Kyll flows into the Moselle. The last few kilometres you will be accompanied by the Moselle all the way to Treves.
Day 4: Treves – Piesport – Treves, approx. 45 km + boat trip
In the morning it's time to cast off! The boat will take you comfortably across the Moselle. Up to Piesport you have enough time to enjoy the panorama from the deck. Visit the visit the Roman wine press from the 3rd century in Piesport before you start pedalling. You will quickly reach Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine village in Germany. The village is perfect for a lunch break. Well fortified, the route takes you along an educational wine trail. Learn more about the local grape varieties and try one or two good wines. Back in Treves, a short city tour is on the agenda. Here you will learn more about the numerous monuments and the history of the city.
5. Tag: Treves – Perl – Treves, approx. 50 km + train ride and individual departure or extension of stay
Before you leave Treves for home, we recommend a cycling tour up the Moselle. By train (ticket not included) you will reach the tranquil town of Perl in the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg in about one hour. From here, the Moselle serves as the border between Germany and Luxembourg. The panorama could hardly be more beautiful, as vineyards rise up on both sides of the river. You will quickly return to Treves via Konz. Would you like to stay longer in Treves? No problem! We would be happy to extend your stay with an extra night. We are sure: The cycling tour from Treves will remain in your memory for a long time!
