You will spend most of the first day of your center based cycling tour from Treves along the Saar river. You start along the Upper Moselle river and soon reach the medieval town of Saarburg. Take the train (ticket not included) to Bitburg-Erdorf. You can look forward to a guided tour of a brewery and learn more about the brewing process. Of course, you will not be denied a taste. Visit the Roman wine press from the 3rd century in Piesport before you start pedaling. You will soon reach Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine village in Germany. The little village is perfect for a lunch break. Well fortified, the route takes you along an educational wine trail. Learn more about the local grape varieties and sample a good drop or two. Before you leave Treves for good, we recommend a cycle tour up the Moselle river. The train (ticket not included) takes you to the tranquil town of Perl in the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg in around an hour.
