Immerse yourself in this wonderful countryside, its many lakes and breath-taking mountains. The cultural highlights are St. Wolfgang and the White Horse - about whom there are many tales and legends - Bad Ischl, shaped by the nobility, Gmunden with its water castle, Orth, and the archaeologically important Hallstatt. The starting point of this star-shaped tour is Bad Goisern. Despite one or two inclines, this cycling holiday in Salzkammergut is also very enjoyable for the less practiced cyclist.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Bad Goisern

Enjoy the idyllic landscape in midst of a breath-taking mountain scenery with snow-capped summits. Lake Hallstatt, which is located at the foot of the Dachstein Mountains, welcomes you with crystal-clear turquoise water which invites you to linger and go for a swim. Bad Goisern is famous far beyond the borders, due to the Goiserer Schuh, a mountain-shoe of very high quality. Booked rental bikes will be available at the hotel.

Day 2: Excursion to Lake Traunsee, approx. 45 km + train ride

You will start today´s tour leisurely with a train journey to Gmunden at Lake Traunsee. Castle Orth and the ceramic chimes in the town hall are worth seeing. Along glittering Lake Traunsee you will cycle through the picturesque Traunkirchen, past the Lions Monument to Ebensee. Here you can take the the cable railway up to Mountain Feuerkogel- once at the top you can enjoy a breath-taking view of Lake Traunsee. You will follow the river Traun to Bad Ischl, with the Kaiservilla and the Kaiserpark, from there you will return to Bad Goisern.

Day 3: Excursion to Lake Gosau, approx. 25 – 40 km + transfer

After breakfast you will use the transfer to travel to Gosau. Take the opportunity and cycle to the anterior of the Lake Gosausee, where you will enjoy an unforgettable view of the easternmost glacier of the Alps and the Mountain Dachstein. At the edge of the UNESCO world heritage site Hallstatt-Dachstein-Salzkammergut you will cycle along the Gosau stream to the beautifully located Lake Hallstatt. Following river Traun you will return to Bad Goisern.

Day 4: Excursion to Lake Wolfgangsee, approx. 55 km

On your bicycle you will follow the river Traun to Bad Ischl, the summer residence of the Habsburg imperial family. You will cycle further along the river Ischler Ache until you reach St. Wolfgang at Lake Wolfgangsee, where you should not only visit the famous hotel Weißes Rössl. Taking the rack railway up the Schafberg Mountain is also worthwhile. You will cross the lake on a short ferry ride (not included). On the other side of the lake you will cycle back along Lake Nussensee.

Day 5: Excursion to Lake Hallstatt, approx. 35 km

Today's tour takes you to the World Heritage Site, Lake Hallstatt. This idyllically situated lake is there waiting for you to walk its circumference. It's practical that almost all the sights and highlights are easily reached from its banks. Wonderful countryside, the oldest salt mine in the world in Hallstatt, the Dachstein ice caves in Obertraun or a pleasant boat trip – Hallstatt Lake has a lot to offer and you have time for it all before returning to Bad Goisern.

Day 6: Excursion to Bad Aussee, approx. 35 km + train ride

You will reach Bad Aussee in the Styrian Salzkammergut region by train. An excursion into a quiet corner of the Totes Gebirge Mountain Range to Lake Grundlsee and Lake Toplitzsee is an unforgettable experience. Finally you will cycle through the Rettenbach Valley to Bad Ischl, where you should take a break at Café Zauner to taste the Zaunerstollen (included). You will return by cycling along the river Traun.

Day 7: Individual departure

    The route is mostly flat along the shores of the lakes, in between the terrain is hilly, but can also be managed well by non-athletes. Approximately one third of the route is on cycle paths, the rest on quiet side roads. Due to the topography, some of the lakes´ shores have rather busy traffic.
