Portugal was one of the leading seafaring nations in the 15th century and still today you will feel the Portuguese deep connection with the sea during a bike tour in Portugal. The small country in the west of the Iberian Peninsula could not be more diverse. There are the green mountains of the national parks, the golden and kilometer-long sandy beaches of the Algarve, the meter-high waves of the Atlantic Ocean under the Cabo São Vicente lighthouse or the beautiful river valleys like that of the Douro. Lisbon and Porto have become visitor magnets in recent years, but there are still authentic and quiet corners of the country to discover. And of course there is the beautiful volcanic island of Madeira, far out in the Atlantic. Due to its lush vegetation and pleasant climate, the island of flowers has long ceased to be an insider tip. You can expect high cliffs, green mountain tops, from which whitewashed houses of beautiful villages flash out, banana plantations and lush plant carpets. Cycling holidays in Portugal are fun because the landscape is varied, the people are very friendly, the food with its Moorish, Spanish and colonial influences is very colorful and the demands on the cyclist are not too high. To those at home you can bring a colorfully painted tile so typical of Portugal or a bottle of the best sherry or port wine.

On the Atlantic coast we have several tours up our sleeve for you. The Cycling tour in Portugal takes you from Porto to Lisbon. And with that you have killed two birds with one stone. After all, Porto and Lisbon have not just recently become two of Europe's hotspots. The cities are lively, colorful and unique. In addition, on this bike tour you get to experience the rough-around-the-edges but fascinating Atlantic coastline up close, taste the salt on your lips and have freshly caught fish melt on your palate.

Also along the Atlantic, the Bike tour along the Atlantic coast in Portugal will leave you in raptures. You'll cycle from beautiful Lisbon to Sagres. The Atlantic cliffs are rugged, the villages colorful, the beaches wide and miles long, the waves several meters high. A paradise on earth, not only for surfers, but also for rare bird populations and adventurous cyclists. Of course, there will also be time for Lisbon, the City of Light. The colorful hustle and bustle in the alleys and the joie de vivre of its inhabitants will immediately cast a spell over you.

The cycling holiday along the Algarve is a round trip starting in Faro. Here you will get to know the stretch of coast from the Spanish border to the most southwestern point of Europe, the end of the world. The sea is your constant companion and shows itself in different facets and colors. Walk in the footsteps of Henry the Navigator and learn more about the seafaring nation of Portugal. Enjoy the sun and the salt on your skin, while there are constant opportunities to take a break on one of the fine sandy beaches and look out over the endless expanses of the Atlantic.

Scenically quite different, but no less beautiful, is our bicycle tour through Douro Valley in Northern Portugal. Vines hang lushly on the steep slopes carved into terraces by man, through which the Douro River has carved its way over time. UNESCO designated the region a World Heritage Site in 2001. The Douro Valley is the perfect setting for a successful cycling vacation. Nestled against the hills are pretty little towns, numerous wineries and old mansions called solares. Embark on the trail of sherry and enjoy a ride on the traditional Rabelo boat.

1000 kilometers from mainland Europe, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, lies the flower island of Madeira. The subtropical climate on the volcanic island allows the most exotic flowers from Africa, Asia and South America to flourish. Our varied, eight-day cycling holiday on Madeira is a tour around the island, by cable car up to Monte, the flowering town, and of course to the capital Funchal. Here you can pay a visit to the bronze statue of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was born in Madeira.
