Our Lake Constance holiday with children is designed for those who want to get to know Lake Constance in a relaxed way, don‘t want to cycle too many kilometres and want to experience a different kind of holiday with their little ones. There is also no need to pack your bags every day, as your starting point and overnight accommodation is Constance. From the largest city on Lake Constance, you make a daily excursion to one of our suggested destinations. Start your Lake Constance holiday with children with a cycle tour to the island of Mainau, the nationally renowned flower island. The next day, take the ferry to Meersburg and get to know the north-eastern shore of the lake. Friedrichshafen invites you to learn more about airship travel, which has close historical ties with the town. Look up from time to time during your Lake Constance holiday with your children and you might catch sight of a zeppelin hovering almost silently over the lake. A trip to the charming little town of Überlingen includes a canoe trip and the opportunity to enjoy the Mediterranean flair of the garden town on a stroll. The monastery island of Reichenau is also on the programme, as are the Höri peninsula and the small Swiss town of Stein am Rhein. The Lake Constance vacation with children includes many services so that you can fully concentrate on cycling and wonderful experiences along the way.
Your Lake Constance vacation with children begins in medieval Constance. After checking in at the hotel, grab your bike and take a detour to the Horn lido - perfect for a refreshing dip in the cool water or sunbathing with a view of the lake. Or would you prefer to get up high? From the tower of Constance Minster, after climbing around 200 steps, you have an excellent view over the city and the lake. If you would like to find out more about the history of Constance, a visit to the Rosgarten Museum is a good idea.
Today's excursion is all about colorful blossoms, palm trees, butterflies and exotic trees. Known as the Flower Island, the island of Mainau (not included) welcomes visitors with its extensive park and gardens. Be it the tulips in spring, the splendor of roses in summer or the dahlia show in autumn - there is something to marvel at every season. The butterfly house is an animal kingdom: 120 species of tropical butterflies and moths can be experienced up close.
Today you are heading to the other side of Lake Constance. From Constance-Staad, take the ferry to Meersburg. If you want to get a taste of the Middle Ages, you can visit Meersburg Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. Cycle along the Lake Constance cycle path to Friedrichshafen. The Zeppelin Museum there will impress you with its impressive collection on the history and technology of airship travel. After climbing the Moleturm tower at the entrance to Friedrichshafen harbour and enjoying the view, take the catamaran back to Constance.
On your bike tour for families from Constance, you will get to know the north-western part of Lake Constance today. First you cycle to Wallhausen. A canoe trip gives you the opportunity to experience the lake from a different perspective. The tour continues by boat to Überlingen. Treat yourself to an ice cream sundae or a coffee on the lakeside promenade before getting back on your bike towards Meersburg. On the way, you can stop off at the Birnau pilgrimage church or the pile dwellings in Unteruhldingen. From Meersburg, take the ferry back to Constance.
The cycling day begins with a trip to Reichenau, the largest island in Lake Constance. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island was already of great cultural importance in the early Middle Ages. At the heart of this development was the monastery, which was founded by St. Pirmin in 724. The tour continues with a boat trip to Gaienhofen on the Höri peninsula. Your next destination is Stein am Rhein. Stroll through the very well-preserved old town with its colorfully painted medieval buildings before cycling back to Constance along the High Rhine.
