In Southern Germany, the cycling season stirs back to life as early as late March. Along Lake Constance, the Moselle and the Rhine, the days are mild, the landscapes bloom – and the cycle paths are still almost empty. Riding the Lake Constance Cycle Route in April rather than July is a completely different experience: quiet, fresh, with Alpine panoramas instead of summer crowds. Along the Moselle, the first budding vines turn the river valleys a soft, lush green.
