Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance

Welcome to Lake Constance! Arrive early to have enough time to explore the historic town of Constance. The old medieval town architecture is almost entirely intact. Crooked timber-framed houses line the streets, home to old, traditional wine cellars. Constance has a lot to see - the minster, the Council of Constance and the harbour for example!

Stein am Rhein

Day 2: Cycle tour to Stein am Rhein, approx. 80 km

Today you'll cycle around the southern arm of Lake Constance - the Lower Lake. Out on your first part of the tour, you cycle on the Lake Constance cycle path along the Gnadensee, from Constance to the old imperial town of Radolfzell. Pedalling on good paths, this athletic short trip takes you via the Höri peninsula to Stein with its wonderfully fresco-painted houses - an excellent stop for lunch. Continuing along the south banks of the lake you cycle through well-kept Swiss fishing villages back to Constance.

Pavillon, Bregenz

Day 3: Constance – Friedrichshafen – Bregenz, approx. 65 km + ferry trip

Today's cycle is not quite as athletic as the first section around the Lower Lake: It's shorter and it's also more level. You cycle on the Lake Constance cycle path around the Upper Lake. From Constance you take the ferry to Meersburg with its ancient Merovingian castle. Cycling through vineyards, you reach Friedrichshafen, home to the Zeppelin, where we recommend visiting the Zeppelin museum and the harbour. The tour continues through orchards to the Bavarian town of Lindau, situated on an island. With views of the Alps you pedal around the Bregenz bay and finish today's cycle in the festival town of Bregenz.

Lake Constance Cycle Path

Day 4: Bregenz – Constance, approx. 70 km and individual departure

Your cycle tour starts with a section through the Rhine Delta - an important nature preserve. You mostly follow the lakeside through apple orchards and the pretty little towns of Arbon and Romanshorn to Constance. Your cycling trip at Lake Constance comes to an end. Before you collect your luggage in the early evening and depart, you should go for an ice cream at the harbour and admire the views of the lake. And if you're not ready to leave the lake, we are happy to extend your stay in Constance.
