Enviable, who makes a bicycle tour in Portugal. The section between Porto and Lisbon is a particularly beautiful spot in Europe. Not only will you get to know the vibrant cities of Porto and Lisbon, but you can also interrupt your cycle tour at any time on picturesque coastal paths to take a break on one of the countless sandy beaches and gaze out over the wild Atlantic Ocean. Freshly caught fish, port wine and cherry liqueur round off the relaxed atmosphere perfectly. Could life be any better? The fabulous nature on the cycle tour in Portugal is not stingy with its charms: pine forests, cork oaks, shifting sand dunes, silvery glistening waters and golden sandy beaches lie along the routes. The history of the former seafaring nation, the fascinating cultural monuments and the great contrasts of this small country will inspire you on your cycle tour in Portugal. The first stages are flat, after which it becomes increasingly hilly.

Day 2: Porto – Furadouro region, approx. 40 – 45 km

Today you leave Porto behind you and set off on the first stage of your cycling vacation in Portugal. Not far from the Atlantic coast, you head south through pine forests and seaside resorts. You set course for Furadouro, a popular surfing hotspot. The beaches here are miles long. The local fishermen of Furadouro still work according to time-honored traditions and pull mussels, sardines and crabs ashore in nets. You should enjoy a freshly caught fish or the stockfish that is so popular in Portugal for dinner.

First, you cycle along the inland lakes of the Dunas de São Jacinto nature reserve. The nature reserve is a coastal area with fixed dunes and shifting sand dunes, pine forests and freshwater ponds - a paradise for many bird species. A ferry ride takes you to Aveiro. There you will be amazed by the many canals and the colorfully painted wooden ships. Take a short trip on a moliceiro, which are used to collect seaweed, and watch the hustle and bustle of Aveiro from the water.

And rightly so: its width and special light conditions gave it the name Praia da Claridade - beach of brightness.
