Although Greece has a large mainland, it is the numerous islands that immediately spring to mind when you think of Hellas. Deep blue sea, white cliffs, beautiful beaches, lush olive groves, sun-drenched wines and a history thousands of years old and shrouded in legendary myths - all this and much more awaits you on this trip by bike and boat from Corfu. Corfu belongs to the Ionian Islands, which are located off the west coast of Greece. These include the islands of Lefkas, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Meganisi and Paxos, which you will also get to know on this 8-day trip. The motor sailer Panagiota serves as your floating hotel during the trip by bike and boat from Corfu and takes you safely and comfortably through the island world off the Greek coast. So you can enjoy life on board to the full. Rounded off with cycle tours on the islands, the trip by bike and boat from Corfu offers you a varied travel experience that you will remember for a long time to come.
The guided tour by bike and boat from Corfu requires a certain level of fitness. The daily cycle routes include sections that go up to altitudes between 300 and 600 meters. You will be cycling on hilly and mountainous terrain, tackling steeper and longer climbs. However, pushing the bike is permitted. If you don't want to cycle a tour, you have the option of spending the day on a boat.
Your journey by bike and boat starts and ends on the enchanting island of Corfu! It is located in the northern part of the Ionian Sea, which meets the Adriatic here. The picturesque terrain full of green rocky slopes jutting out into the turquoise water immediately creates a relaxed feeling. Many small bays complete the picture. The island's eventful past is also reflected in the towns and their architecture. Embarkation on the Panagiota ship takes place in the afternoon.
The fresh wind blows around your nose on the crossing to the Greek west coast. On the mainland, fit your bikes and off you go! The first cycle tour begins in the small coastal town of Syvota, which stretches along the gentle hills by the sea. The route continues to Parga. A Venetian fortress from the 16th century towers above the town. From there you have a fantastic view of the rugged rocky hills of the Greek coast. From Parga, take the boat to the port town of Nidri on the island of Lefkas.
In the morning, you first cycle to a nearby waterfall. You continue along lonely roads through the mountains to the sun-drenched town of Syvota in the south of the island. The harbor town lies in a sheltered bay surrounded by green hills and lush forests. From Syvota, take the boat to Fiskardo on the island of Kefalonia. Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands and has a multitude of sandy beaches and secluded bays. It is believed that the island corresponds to the island of Same, over which Odysseus, a hero from Greek mythology, ruled.
After leaving the bay of Fiskardo on today's stage of your trip around Corfu by bike and boat, you climb the impressive mountain road on the west coast. Enjoy the unforgettable panorama with a view of Myrtos beach. The region around the marble-white pebble beach is protected and therefore offers a special nature experience. A visit to the stalactite cave of Melissani is an adventure. The sparkling cave can only be reached by rowing boat. The journey continues to Sami. From there, your ship sets sail for the island of Ithaca.
On his way home, Odysseus had to endure numerous adventures and trials. But don't worry, you don't have to fear sea monsters or sirens on your way. Explore the island of Ithaca - Odysseus' home island - without a care in the world. The gnarled olive trees, the deep blue sea and the cozy islanders give the area its typical Greek charm. From the port town of Frikes, the boat awaits you for the crossing to the small island of Meganisi.
First on the agenda is an exploration of the island of Meganisi by bike. Afterwards, treat yourself to an extensive coffee and swimming break on the beach at Spartochori. Back on board the MS Panagiota, enjoy the long crossing to the island of Paxos. Today's destination is the natural harbor of Gaios. On this smallest of the Ionian Islands, the locals still live mainly from wine and olive growing. Spend the evening in a small taverna and enjoy the relaxed island atmosphere.
Before you head back to Corfu in the afternoon on your trip by bike and boat, you should definitely cycle around Paxos. You can take a break whenever you feel like it and relax on one of the beautiful beaches. After lunch, sail towards your starting point, the island of Corfu. Stroll through the charming Venetian-style old town of Corfu Town and enjoy a glass of Greek wine and indulge in the island's many specialties before your departure tomorrow.
After breakfast and disembarkation, your journey by bike and boat on Corfu and the Ionian Islands comes to an end. Your individual journey home begins. A shared transfer to Corfu airport is available on request. We are happy to extend your stay on Corfu with an extra night on request.
Join us on a short cinematic journey on board the MS Panagiota - a very special ship with a lot of heart and history. This lovingly restored kaiki, built according to traditional Greek timber construction methods, exudes maritime flair and authentic charm. Not an off-the-peg ship, but a truly unique piece that was created with a great deal of craftsmanship, dedication and respect for seafaring.
The captain himself talks about his love of the sea in the film - and you can feel this passion in every detail: in the warm wood tones, in the gentle creaking of the planks, in the personal atmosphere on board. The Panagiota is more than just a means of transportation - it is your floating home while you explore the beautiful island world of Greece by bike and boat.
