On a Spreewald cycle tour, most people will think of tours that take you past the famous Spreewald gherkins. But this route takes you to the wild origins of the Spreewald forest with its magnificent water labyrinth of the natural, branching waterways of the Spree. You'll see postmen on yellow barges which are just as much part of this area as the watery meadows and moors and their unique flora and fauna. Cottbus is the cultural centre of the Sorbian minority. Baroque town houses, the English-style Branitz Park, Germany's oldest Art Nouveau film theatre and the town houses of the migrant French Huguenots all shape the character of this town.
