On a Spreewald cycle tour, most people will think of tours that take you past the famous Spreewald gherkins. But this route takes you to the wild origins of the Spreewald forest with its magnificent water labyrinth of the natural, branching waterways of the Spree. You‘ll see postmen on yellow barges which are just as much part of this area as the watery meadows and moors and their unique flora and fauna. Cottbus is the cultural centre of the Sorbian minority. Baroque town houses, the English-style Branitz Park, Germany‘s oldest Art Nouveau film theatre and the town houses of the migrant French Huguenots all shape the character of this town.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Cottbus and excursion to Lake Spremberg, approx. 60 km
Arrival, get set, go! Cycle via the Kutzeburger Mühle riding and leisure farm to the large Spremberg reservoir. A little further east you come to the Bagenzer Teich. Fancy a leisurely break on the beach and a dip in the water? Then head back through Branitz Park. This landscaped park, designed by Prince Pückler in the English style, will amaze you with its grassy pyramids.
Cyclists on the Spree
Day 2: Cottbus – Lübben, approx. 65 km
Your destination today is the huge Peitz pond landscape, home to many plants and the carp that has been bred since time immemorial. Then it's out of the forest, through the stork village of Dissen, back into the countryside, through Burg to Straupitz. The last functioning triple mill in Europe and the linseed oil produced here await you there! Finally, you cycle to Lübben, the main town of the Spreewald.
Spreewald
Day 3: Lübben – Cottbus, approx. 50 km and individual departure or extension
The 300 or so natural watercourses run like shimmering blue and white threads through green meadows and fields. You reach Lehde via Lübbenau. The village is criss-crossed by a fairytale labyrinth of water – the actual roads in the Spreewald. You cycle via the fishing village of Leipe to Burg and back to Cottbus on quiet paths. Your luggage will be waiting for you here, and we are also happy to extend your Spreewald cycle tour in Cottbus with an extra night.
