The cycling holiday along the Kocher Jagst cycle path is a true joy. Accompanied by the Kocher and Jagst rivers, you cycle through these river valleys to many historic towns. The cycle path takes you from Schwäbisch Hall's magnificent timber-framed houses via the home of knight Götz von Berlichingen and on to Bad Wimpfen with its well-known blue tower. The wonderful, unspoiled countryside of these valleys are decorated with many castles and forts. The hilly route and the pleasant length of each section turn this holiday into a perfect trip for people who like to combine nature, history and sport. Day 1: Individual arrival in Schwäbisch Hall
Individual arrival in Schwäbisch Hall. Your cycling holiday along the Kocher Jagst cycle path starts in pretty Schwäbisch Hall. Go on a little wander after you've checked into your hotel. The lovely timber-framed houses give Schwäbisch Hall its own special charm. Visit the town market place where architectural styles from all kinds of eras are united. Here you'll see impressive buildings, such as the Baroque town hall and the Roman-Gothic Church of St. Michael.
Day 2: Schwäbisch Hall – Mulfingen, approx. 45 km
Your first section takes you through flourishing countryside to Mulfingen. On the way you pass the town of Langenburg. Langenburg Castle rises here over the Jagst Valley on a ridge. It is home to the castle museum. The Kocher Jagst cycle path takes you right along the Jagst to Mulfingen. The townscape is characterised by the river. The Jagst winds its way through the town in harmony with its time-honoured houses. First and foremost in Mulfingen comes enjoyment. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, the warm and friendly people and the delicious meals and beverages in the local guesthouses.
Day 3: Mulfingen – Jagsthausen / Sindringen, approx. 35 / 45 km
Today, the Jagst takes you to Jagsthausen. You cycle along the Kocher Jagst cycle path right along the green banks of the riverside. A typical characteristics of the river are the many turns and bends it takes through the limestone countryside. Jagsthausen was once the home of Knight Götz von Berlichingen. He was also known as "The Knight of the Iron Hand". He was born in 1480 in Götzenburg and spent a few years of his childhood here. There are two more castles in Jagsthausen, the red and the white castle. In the red castle today, you'll find a country guesthouse and beer garden. Enjoy the historic atmosphere of this rustic castle cuisine.
Day 4: Sindringen – Neckarsulm / Bad Friedrichshall, approx. 40 / 50 km
After breakfast, you cycle along the Kocher to Bad Friedrichshall. The river landscape features expansive meadows, fields, farmland and green woods. The Kocher Valley is not quite as windy as the Jagst Valley, but the flora and fauna are very similar. In Bad Friedrichshall, visit the salt mine and go on a tour to learn all about the history of salt.
Day 5: Bad Friedrichshall – Sindringen / Jagsthausen, approx. 30 km
Today you will first follow the Neckar to the confluence of the Jagst. Already from afar you'll see the impressive silhouette of the town of Bad Wimpfen. The town is home to many historic buildings. Especially striking are the blue tower, stone house and palatine church. If you like you can take a break in the thermal baths in Bad Wimpfen (not included in price) and tank up on energy before follwing the Jagst valley back to Sindringen. For the rest of the day you'll cycle along the Jagst, which will acompany you back to Sindringen.
Day 6: Sindringen – Schwäbisch Hall, approx. 55 km
The last section of your cycling holiday on the Kocher Jagst cycle path takes you back to Schwäbisch Hall. Most of the time you'll be cycling along wooded valley slopes of the deeply cut Kocher Valley. On your way you pass Braunsbach with Castle Tierberg and Castle Braunsbach. In Schwäbisch Hall pretty timber framed houses line the streets up the hill. You won't forget this lovely town. Wander through the almost entirely unspoiled Medieval streets and the picturesque historic quarter of the old salter's town.
