Moin Moin – which means hello – is always appropriate on our bike tour between Sylt and Hamburg! You start in Niebüll, not far from the Danish border. Until you reach your destination, the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, you will mainly roll along on the North Sea Coast Cycle Route. It is mostly flat, leads through salt marshes and runs along dikes - including grazing sheep. Enjoy the healthy North Sea air, idyllic lush green landscapes and endless views of the sea along the way. On our bike tour between Sylt and Hamburg, it‘s worth taking extended breaks along the way on the Hamburg Hallig, in the Dutch town of Friedrichstadt, at the Eider barrage near Tönning, in the shrimp town of Büsum, at the locks of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel and at the ship welcoming facility in Wedel. A visit to the North Sea coast includes a mudflat hike, perhaps on a trip to St. Peter-Ording? Take a walk on the seabed and discover the fascinating fauna of the mudflats, which only reveals itself after a second glance. Once you have reached your destination Hamburg, it‘s time to breathe in the big city air – numerous sights and a wide range of cultural activities round off perfectly our bike tour between Sylt and Hamburg.

Take a stroll through the town to see for yourself that he was wrong and that Husum has colorful houses and a colorful cultural offering. Alternatively, grab your bike and take your first detour to the North Sea.

Day 4: Excursion to St. Peter-Ording, approx. 40 / 65 km + train ride

One of Germany's most famous beaches is the destination of today's excursion - St. Peter-Ording. You will first reach the coastal town comfortably by train. You will not only be impressed by the approximately 12-kilometre-long sandy beach, but also by the characteristic pile dwellings, which are real eye-catchers. They are unique on the German coast and today serve as restaurants or lifeguards. With your lungs full of fresh North Sea air, you cycle back to Tönning or Lunden.

Day 5: Tönning – St. Michaelisdonn, 60 / 70 km

Today's stage of your cycle tour between Sylt and Hamburg first takes you to the Eidersperrwerk, Germany's largest coastal protection structure. You then cycle along the coast to Büsum. The small seaside resort is famous for its Büsum crabs - try them! The route continues into the charming landscape of Dithmarschen. The cathedral in Meldorf will catch your eye from afar. The origins of the brick Gothic-style church date back to the 9th century. Continue to your destination for the day, St. Michaelisdonn. The Holländermühle Edda is the town's landmark. It was built on a hill in the middle of the 19th century.

The small town is known nationwide for its Glückstädter Matjes. It is made by hand according to old recipes. Take a stroll through the historic market square of the planned town, which was built in the 17th century.
