Cycling holidays along the Inn

Cycling holidays along the Inn
At the mouth of the Inn in the three-river city of Passau

From the origin of the Inn at the Maloja Pass in Switzerland to its mouth into the Danube, follow the river during a varied cycling tour across the Alps. On almost all its stretches, the Inn cycle tours are suitable for families and inexperienced cyclists. The Engadine enchants with a bombastic Alpine panorama and the unique Engadine houses with their richly decorated facades.

In Tyrol, romantic spots directly on the river, towns worth seeing such as Innsbruck, Landeck, Kufstein and Stans await you. You will cycle through the Lower Inn European Reserve with its numerous islands and lush vegetation, which is home to over 300 bird species.

In Bavaria, you will cycle through gently rolling countryside, with the pilgrimage town of Altötting and the cosy towns of Rosenheim and Wasserbug nestling among the scenery. After 520 kilometres, the cycle tour ends at the Inn in the three-river city of Passau.

The bike tour from St. Moritz to Innsbruck starts in the Engadine, more precisely in the spa town of St. Moritz, which stands for elegance and sophistication worldwide. Enjoy the magnificent Alpine panorama with mountain peaks that reach up to 3,500 metres into the sky as you cycle through the Engadine high valley. The intricately painted house facades are unique. You change from Switzerland to the Tyrolean mountains. Again and again you will encounter charming, traditional villages. Visit Landeck Castle, from which access to the Arlberg and Reschen Passes used to be monitored. The tour ends in Innsbruck, whose 800-year-old old town tells of the city's eventful history at every turn.

From Innsbruck to Passau we send you on the cycle tour along the Inn for sporty cyclists. The daily stages are ambitious, averaging 65 kilometres per day. However, they still leave you time to take in the beauty of the Tyrolean mountains, the Bavarian Alpine foothills and the Austrian Innviertel. Highlights of the cycle tour along the Inn are certainly the place of pilgrimage Altötting and the town of Schärding, which delights with its exceptionally beautiful baroque townscape. Passau, at the end of the tour, lies at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers and boasts the second largest church organ in the world.

The cycle tour from the Hohe Tauern to Passau begins in a most impressive way: the Krimml Waterfalls are the start of the eight-day cycle tour through the mighty mountain ranges of the Hohe Tauern and later the mostly flat valleys of the Salzach, Saalach and Inn rivers. The pilgrimage church of Maria Alm, the castles of Mirabell and Hellbrunn, Burghausen Castle or beautiful Schärding provide a wonderful counterpoint to the breathtaking nature. Salzburg is of course a special treat with Mozart's birthplace and the Hohensalzburg.
