Overwhelming mountain ranges reflected in glittering lakes on one side and sophisticated towns and traditional villages on the other. On your bike tour from the Hohe Tauern to Passau you will experience both. All around you look at the high snow-covered peaks of the mountains, while you cycle very relaxed on mostly flat paths through the gentle valleys of the Salzach, Saalach and Inn rivers. New highlights await you every day - both scenic and cultural. Visit Europe‘s largest waterfalls in Krimml and swim in Lake Zell, one of the purest bathing lakes in Austria. Even from a distance you will discover the numerous castles, churches and palaces on the surrounding hills. Hike through an impressive gorge and explore the longest passage cave in the world near Lofer. With Salzburg and Passau you will get to know two beautiful cities. Take ample time to explore the numerous sights such as Mozart‘s birthplace and St. Stephen‘s Cathedral. Let yourself be spoiled also culinary. Who can resist a hearty Kasnocken or a sweet Kaiserschmarrn?

Day 1: Individual arrival to Krimml

Plane an early arrival to Krimml, the first highlight of your bike tour from the Hohe Tauern to Passau already awaits you here. On a well-designed high-altitude path you walk to the largest waterfalls in Europe: Over three steps the thundering water masses of the Krimml Waterfalls rush 380 meters into the depths. Do not miss this unique natural spectacle.

Day 2: Krimml – Kaprun / Zell am See, approx. 60 km

Get on your bike right after breakfast. Leisurely you cycle along the Salzach through the Hoch Tauern National Park. Lush green meadows and small idyllic villages alternate and offer a fairy-tale backdrop with the snow-capped three-thousand-meter peaks in the background. Once in Kaprun, you will visit the castle, the town's landmark, which sits majestically on a hill. Are you still in the mood for a hike? Then embark on a voyage of discovery through the Sigmund Thun Gorge (not included).

Day 3: Zell am See – Lofer, approx. 50 km

On today's stage you will cycle through several highlights. Before you start, however, you will first take a refreshing dip in Lake Zell. After a few kilometers you will reach the famous pilgrimage church Maria Alm. Saalfelden is suitable for your lunch break. Enjoy spicy cheese and sausage from the region to continue cycling invigorated. Explore the Lamprechtshöhle near Weißbach during a guided tour (not included) - it is considered one of the longest passage caves in the world.

Day 4: Lofer – Salzburg, approx. 50 km

Through the tranquil Saalach Valley you will reach Bad Reichenhall. Enjoy a coffee in the charming old town with its typical Bavarian flair. Then cycle full of anticipation to the Mozart city of Salzburg. Take plenty of time to experience the cultural offerings. Mozart's birthplace awaits you in the Getreidegasse. Further highlights are the castles Mirabell and Hellbrunn. You can enjoy a wonderful view of the city from the Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Day 5: Salzburg – Burghausen, approx. 60 km

The Alps are behind you, the diverse Alpine foothills in front of you. You cycle through extensive floodplain forests and the colorful untouched nature of the European reserve Unterer Inn. Numerous species of plants and birds have settled here. Even from a distance, you will recognize the seemingly endless battlements and towers of the longest castle complex in the world. Arriving in Burghausen, you will first visit the castle and then indulge in the culinary delights of the region in a rustic vaulted cellar.

Day 6: Burghausen – Obernberg am Inn / Bad Füssing, approx. 50 km

Along the Inn River, you will leisurely cycle through the quiet, watery nature. Enjoy the wonderful view over the water areas, mud banks and the small wooded islands. Perhaps you will catch a glimpse of a beaver at work. The gothic town of Braunau is suitable for a lunch break. Afterwards, you have a choice - either on the German or Austrian side of the Inn River. Your overnight stop is either the baroque Obernberg or the spa town of Bad Füssing.

Day 7: Obernberg am Inn – Passau, approx. 40 km

Lined up like pearls on a necklace are the numerous towns along the Inn River that are well worth seeing. Visit the Reichersberg Abbey and the baroque market square of Schärding. Now pedal a few more kilometers and you will have reached Passau, the destination of your bike tour. Visit St. Stephen's Cathedral with the largest cathedral organ in the world and stroll through the beautiful old town. From the Veste Oberhaus enjoy a magnificent view of the confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube. Unique are the three different colors of the rivers.
