Two rivers are your constant companions on this sporty cycle tour: the Kocher and Jagst. You cycle through the valleys of both rivers, many kilometers directly along the river banks. On your stages, you will pass many historic towns such as Braunsbach, Mulfingen, Jagsthausen and Bad Wimpfen with their castles and palaces. The length of the stages and the hilly course attract anyone who wants to combine nature, culture and sport.
Welcome to the north-eastern Baden-Württemberg! Your bike tour along the Kocher and Jagst rivers begins in Schwäbisch Hall.
Check in to your hotel room and take a leisurely stroll through the town. The charming half-timbered houses and the unique atmosphere will surely captivate you. The picturesque market square, with its blend of architectural styles from various eras, adds to the town's charm. Notable landmarks include the Romanesque-Gothic St. Michael's Church and the elegant Baroque town hall, both of which present a stunning visual experience.
Embark on a scenic cycle through the picturesque Kocher Valley, passing beneath the Kochertal Bridge, Germany's tallest valley bridge, as you follow the Kocher River toward Braunsbach. Take in the sight of Braunsbach Castle, alongside the Protestant St. Bonifaz Church. From here, leave the Kocher behind and cycle up to the Hohenlohe Plain. Soon after, you'll descend towards the Jagst River, following its winding course downstream to Mulfingen. In Mulfingen, the Jagst flows gracefully through the districts, harmonizing with the town's charming half-timbered houses. Your journey's final destination is Jagsthausen, the birthplace of the legendary knight Götz von Berlichingen. He spent part of his childhood at Jagsthausen Castle, also known as Götzenburg. Be sure to visit the Red and White Castles, as well as the Old Town Hall in the heart of the town.
The next stage of your bike tour along the Kocher and Jagst rivers takes you to Bad Wimpfen. As you cycle along the Jagst, the town’s distinctive silhouette becomes visible from a distance. Take time to admire its many historic buildings, including the striking Blue Tower, the Stone House, and the Palatinate Chapel. For a well-deserved break, stop to recharge at the Bad Wimpfen brine baths (entry not included). Afterward, continue your journey, cycling back along the Kocher River towards Jagsthausen. Before you reach your accommodation a final ascent awaits – you will be rewarded with a stunning view.
After the previous stages, the upcoming kilometres will feel relatively easy, with the only challenge being the climb between Jagsthausen and the Kocher River. Once you've conquered it, continue your ride along the Kocher, winding through the lush, wooded valley slopes. Pass through Künzelsau as you make your way back to Schwäbisch Hall. In the evening, take time to explore the historic old town, soaking in the charm of the beautiful market square.
