This unique cycle tour starts in Flensburg. Soon after crossing the border you cycle through the south of Denmark. Impressive steep cliffs and long stretches of sand and pebble beaches run alongside the cycle path. Once you leave the coast your surroundings begin to change and you cycle through lush green fields, vast plains, and thick forests. Even though it seems like the landscape is mostly flat, there will be more than a few hills to cycle up and back down again. In addition to the charming nature you will also be able to visit historical sights along the way. You should definitely visit Gravenstein Castle and Sønderborg Castle. There will be lots of museums for you to visit and learn about the history of Jutland along the way. The locals of the small towns and fishing villages will give you a warm welcome, and you will be able to find a small café or a restaurant to take a break in wherever you go.If you would like to jump into the refreshing waters of the Baltic Sea, you will have a lot of opportunities to do so at one of the countless beaches along your cycle tour around Flensburg.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Flensburg
Flensburg is one of Germany's northernmost cities and therefore it is an ideal starting point for a cycle tour along the Danish Baltic coast. Seafaring and the rum trade once made the city an important trading town. After your arrival, take a stroll through the picturesque alleys and nooks of the old town with its typical Flensburg merchants' yards. The historic harbour, the warehouses and the museum shipyard are certainly worth a detour.
Day 2: Flensburg – Sønderborg, approx. 45 km
Your cycle tour around Flensburg starts in a northerly direction. Soon you will cross the border into Denmark. Parallel to the Flensburg Fjord, you cycle mostly along the coast with spectacular cliffs and fantastic beaches. Gråsden is the summer residence of the Danish royal family. After a few kilometres you reach the island of Als and your destination for the day, Sønderborg. The castle of the same name is one of the oldest royal castles in Jutland and was built directly on the water.
Day 3: Sønderborg – Åbenrå, approx. 35 km
Today's part of the tour is very relaxed. You cycle through different wooded areas and vast fields. The coast varies between flat stretches with shallow beaches and steep cliffs. A long time ago ships set off from the seafaring town of Åbenrå to distant and exotic shores. The wealth of past times can still be seen in the pretty townhouses to this day. In the museum you will find a large collection of cannons and figureheads that the sailors brought back from their voyages.
Day 4: Åbenrå – Flensburg, approx. 55 km and individual departure or extension of stay
Swing into the saddle for the last time. Today's cycle tour takes you back to Flensburg. You cycle along the Ox Trail, which used to be used to drive cattle from the pastures in Denmark to the markets in the Elbe region. On the way, marvel at the bell tower of Kliplev Church – Denmark's oldest preserved wooden building. A piece of recent history can be experienced in the museum of the Frøslev camp near Padborg. The camp functioned as an internment camp during the Second World War. After arriving in Flensburg, you will make your individual journey home. Would you like to explore the beautiful city on the fjord even longer? Then we would be happy to book you an extra night.
