The Little Belt is the focus of our bike tour along the Lillebælt. The strait between the Jutland peninsula and the island of Funen connects the Kattegat in the north with the Baltic Sea in the south. You start our bike tour at the Lillebælt in Flensburg. And in a sporty way! With an average of 75 kilometres per stage, you will cycle briskly and almost without ascents along the Flensburg Fjord, the Baltic Sea coast of southern Jutland and the islands of Funen, Ærø, Als and Tåsinge. And in the middle of it all: contrasting landscapes with lush forests, idyllic coastlines, small fishing villages and historic towns. On our bike tour along the Lillebælt, you will cycle to royal castles, prehistoric relics and idyllic natural paradises that make the region around the Little Belt so unique. Experience porpoises cavorting in the water near Middelfart, climb the Funen Alps around Faaborg and get to know the bathing houses on the beach on the island of Ærø, which can be seen from far away. In between, enjoy the view of the sea, the fresh sea air and the jump into the clear water – your holiday on our bike tour along the Lillebælt could not be more perfect.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Flensburg
Your bike tour along the Lillebælt starts in Flensburg – one of the northernmost cities in Germany. After arriving at the hotel, grab your bikes and explore the well-preserved old town. Discover historic medieval buildings, picturesque courtyards and the Nordertor, the city's landmark. At the Rum Museum (housed in the Maritime Museum), you will learn how Flensburg once became prosperous through the trade of rum from the Caribbean.
Day 2: Flensburg – Sønderborg – Åbenrå, approx. 80 km
Near Flensburg you cross the German-Danish border. Accompanied by a fresh wind, you cycle along the Flensburg Fjord. A first break is worthwhile in Gråsten. The castle there serves as a summer residence for the royal family and is one of the most beautiful parks in Northern Europe. Only a few kilometres away are the Dybbøl skanser. The fortification was the scene of the German-Danish War in 1864. After a short detour to Sønderborg, continue to Nydam Mose, a bog that was used as a sacrificial site in the Iron Age. Explore the old town in Åbenrå with its typical burghers' and craftsmen's houses.
Day 3: Åbenrå – Kolding, approx. 95 km
The second stage of your bike tour along the Lillebælt leads you first to Haderslev. The old town is located on a peninsula. It is dominated by the Vor Frue Domkirke. It is considered the most beautiful Gothic church in Denmark. The Haderslev Museum offers a remarkable collection of prehistoric finds and presents typical houses of Southern Jutland in the outdoor area. In your destination for the day, Kolding, you will notice the Koldinghus. The castle-like manor looks back on an exciting history. Today it houses a museum. From the tower of the castle you have a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the Kolding Fjord.
Day 4: Kolding – Middelfart – Ebberup / Brobyværk, ca. 85 / 105 km
Today you are going to the island of Funen! You will cross the Lillebæltsbroen in Snoghøj. The bridge has been crossing the narrowest part of the Little Belt since 1935 and connects Jutland with the Funen harbour town of Middelfart. One of Denmark's most beautiful half-timbered houses, the Henner Friisers Hus, is located near the harbour. Today's museum shows the history of whaling on the Little Belt.Take a boat trip and, with a bit of luck, spot porpoises, which are numerous in the Little Belt. Stay overnight in the old harbour town of Assens or in the region around the charming village of Ebberup. If you stay overnight in Brobyværk, the cycle route will take you into the interior of Funen.
Day 5: Ebberup – Fåborg – Svendborg / Troense, ca. 65 km
Start the cycling stage of your bike tour along the Lillebælt with a round trip over the Helnæs peninsula. Take a refreshing swim at Helnæsstrand and visit the Stone Age megalithic tombs. At Svanninge you will meet the foothills of the Funen Alps, whose hills offer a magnificent view over the south of Funen. On the way, it's worth making a stop in Fåborg. From the bell tower, the town's landmark, you have a wonderful view of the surroundings and the sea. You will spend the night in the harbour town of Svendborg, whose townscape is characterised by countless half-timbered houses and the Sejlskibsbroen at the harbour, or in the small shipping town of Troense on the island of Tåsinge.
Day 6: Svendborg – Ærø Island – Fåborg, approx. 60 km + boat trip
You will take the ferry to the picturesque island of Ærø. The oldest town on the island, Ærøskøbing, is your first destination. The fairytale town presents itself with small half-timbered houses, climbing hollyhocks and dreamy pubs. Circle the entire island and get to know the harbour town of Marstal on the south-eastern tip. At the Søfartsmuseum you will learn how the town once became Denmark's most important harbour town. On your way to the ferry port in Søby, the northernmost town on the island, the Skjoldnæs lighthouse will catch your eye. It has the highest beacon in the region. From Søby, the ferry will take you to your destination for the day, Fåborg
Day 7: Fåborg – Sønderborg – Flensburg, approx. 80 km + boat trip
You start today's stage of your bike tour along the Lillebælt with a short ride over the hilly peninsula Horne Land. In the town of Horne, which gives the peninsula its name, it is worth stopping at Horne Kirke. It is one of the most unusual places of worship in Denmark. In Bøjden you board the ferry and reach the island of Als in Fynshav. Visit Sønderborg Slot in Sønderborg. Along the Flensburg Fjord you reach your destination Flensburg.
