My old student colleague – I use the word old because we studied together 40 years ago – told me she needed a fellow traveler for a bike tour around Lake Constance.
What? Me? At the age of 63? How big is Lake Constance again? You can cycle around it? By bike? It's on the border, isn't it?
Well, we've booked. And have prepared ourselves: Had the e-bike checked, bought an extra bike bag. Made train reservations, checked my sportswear to see if I could still fit in. And then we set off.

On 25 April, we both arrived at the hotel in Konstanz and I was pleasantly surprised right from the start. Everything just went smoothly. We were given a brilliant welcome at every hotel, the bikes were parked securely, and the breakfast was excellent – in Friedrichshafen, it was even better than average. We were able to charge our batteries and mobile phones.
The hotel in Friedrichshafen, with its sauna and swimming pool, was brilliant and did us a world of good after two days of unexpected physical exertion – it was great that you booked such a highlight for us.
In Switzerland, we had lunch at the campsite, where there was a buffet at reasonable prices (17 euros), and we were immediately told about a place to go for a swim.
Your colleague kept her word, she had promised good weather – thank you, it worked out.
On the last day before our departure, we quickly cycled to the island of Mainau and were able to leave our bags at the hotel. Good service and Mainau was also worth seeing.
The prepared booklet gave us valuable information every day. We worked through almost everything that was offered to us.
Except for a few minor details, we found all the cycle paths. Sometimes the sign could only be read from the opposite side, so we had to stop and check. But in general, we found everything.
