Travel report: Cycling Tour in the Altmühl Valley
From our guests Ingrid, Ekkehard and Niklas, who undertook a round trip from Enkering in August 2025

thank you very much for the very well put together tour from 16.08. - 21.08.2025
The three of us started from Gasthof Zum Bräu in Enkering with our own bikes, a tandem with e-assistance and an older pedelec. Even the starting point, beautifully situated on the Anlauter river with a beer garden under a large lime tree, immediately put us in a vacation mood.
On the first day, we cycled the varied stage on well-signposted paths with a moderate gradient up the Anlauter to the Salacher Höhe, from where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view. The descent to Weißenburg was quick and we took a long break in the cafés in Weißenburg. It was still a little too far to Treuchtlingen for the tandem's second battery, but we reached our accommodation in the Stadthof before 6 pm.

The last stage went back to the starting point in Enkering, here there was actually a dangerous spot near Böhming, where loose gravel was suddenly filled in after an asphalted section. We assumed that the roadworks had not been completed. We were already looking forward to getting back to the beautiful Zum Bräu when we got lost in Kinding and ended up on the highway feeder road and the main road, much to our annoyance and that of the drivers. The next day we looked at the spot again. You have to take the cycle path towards Titting. Enkering should definitely also be on the sign here, or an extra sign saying "Enkering".

We nevertheless arrived back at the starting point very satisfied and happy, where we were kindly allowed to leave our car in the courtyard of Zum Bräu and, as usual, our luggage was already waiting for us so that we could move into our room and enjoy another hearty meal under the lime tree.
All in all, we are very satisfied with the organization, our travel documents were very helpful and, except for the section between Enkering and Kinding, were put together correctly.
If there are more round trips, we will be happy to join you again.
