Wide fields, quirky pubs, afternoon tea and royal estates - welcome to Norfolk, one of England's most charming regions! On this individual cycling tour through the east of England, you will experience a landscape full of contrasts: rolling hills and open coastlines, historic market towns and quiet nature trails, Victorian seaside resorts, and enchanted manor houses. Your cycling holiday in Norfolk takes you on small, mostly quite roads from the old Hanseatic town of King's Lynn via Burnham Market and picturesque Holt, past idyllic villages and scenic coastal  landscapes. Along the way, you will discover highlights such as the Sandringham Royal Castle, the wide sandy beaches of Holkham Bay, the magnificent Blickling Hall estate, and the car-free "Marriott's Way" cycle path.

Looking for that classic English experience? A pint in the pub, tea and scones in the garden, curious sheep by the roadside, and Victorian train stations – here, charming clichés combine with genuine relaxation. You cycle past lavender fields, through coastal villages with romantic fishing villages, and encounter a region that is proud of its history but full of relaxed ease. Whether you want to experience culture, enjoy nature, or simply roll along at a leisurely pace, this tour of Norfolk is perfect for leisure cyclists with a spirit of discovery – a wonderful invitation to discover England individually and actively.

Day 1: Individual arrival in King's Lynn

Welcome to the historic harbor town of King's Lynn! The former Hanseatic town enchants with its medieval architecture, impressive churches and the lively flair of a market square that has formed the heart of the region for centuries. Stroll through the cobbled streets of the old town, discover the elegant tollhouse on the riverside or treat yourself to a cream tea in one of its traditional cafés. If you want to delve deeper into local history, visit the Lynn Museum - where England's "Seahenge" awaits.

Day 2: King's Lynn - Thornham, approx. 40 km

A royal start to your cycle tour: Sandringham Castle, the private country estate of the British monarchs, invites you to take a stroll through its magnificent gardens and exciting museum. You then cycle past the Victorian vacation resort of Hunstanton. Enjoy the view of striking, striped cliffs before continuing eastwards to your overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Thornham - Holt, approx. 50 km

Today is among the most beautiful stages of your cycling vacation in Norfolk. The path takes you to the charming Georgian village of Burnham Market with its galleries, cafés and restaurants. Cycle through the extensive parkland of the Holkham Estate to the beautiful Holkham Bay. You continue along the Northern Norfolk coast to Wells-next-the-Sea with its historic harbor. The route leads through the idyllic Glaven Valley to the stylish town of Holt. The small Georgian town offers fine cuisine, arts and crafts and cosy tea rooms.

Day 4: Excursion to Morston or Sheringham, approx. 40 / 30 km + train ride

Today offers plenty of variety - making your cycling vacation in Norfolk truly memorable. Take the opportunity to explore Morston and Blakeney. Those two quaint fishing villages offer a touch of adventure: between April and October, there are seal trips into the Wadden Sea. Or hop on the nostalgic steam train to Sheringham (not included). The time-honored seaside resort attracts visitors with fresh fish, Victorian charm and the impressive Sheringham Park. Your day comes to a close in Holt, with a pint in the pub or a visit to the Owl Tea Room.

Day 5: Holt - Fakenham, approx. 30 / 60 km

Today's stage of your cycling vacation in England takes you through the peaceful Norfolk countryside to the historic Blickling Hall, the former family home of Anne Boleyn. On your cycle tour through Norfolk, you will pass impressive churches in Cawston and Reepham.
The alternative route takes you along idyllic country roads to Little Walsingham, a well-known pilgrimage site with a unique atmosphere and significant ecclesiastical heritage.

Day 6: Excursion to Castle Acre, approx. 55 km

From Fakenham, you cycle to the medieval Castle Acre. It is one of the best-preserved monasteries in England located right next to a 12th century castle. The path leads you along the rolling countryside to Great Massingham with its idyllic village green and historic ponds of the old Augustinian Abbey before your return to Fakenham. It is a perfect day filled to the brink with culture, history and nature a true representation of your cycling vacation in England.

Day 7: Fakenham - King's Lynn, approx. 40 km

Your last stage of the cycle tour through Norfolk takes you to Houghton Hall, a magnificent Palladian mansion built by the first British Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole. Discover these award-winning gardens with a sculpture park by international artists. It is a fitting conclusion to your bike tour in Norfolk. Here the history, elegance and beauty of its countryside is once again on display. Use the time for a stroll along the waterfront - or a farewell dinner with local ale and a view of the evening light illuminating the River Great Ouse.

Day 8: Individual departure

After breakfast, your journey of discovery through England's east comes to an end. Perhaps you would like to round off your cycling vacation in Norfolk with an additional night? King's Lynn invites you to take a relaxing stroll through its old town - a last cream tea with a view of the river before it is time to say goodbye.
