Your cycling vacation in Greece starts in the charming mountain village of Vytina, idyllically situated at an altitude of 1.000 meters in the heart of the Arcadian Mountains. Stroll through the winding alleyways, sample local specialties such as honey and walnuts and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. If you arrive early, you can go on a short hike and get to know the impressive nature of the Menalon Mountains.
The best way to get here is by plane to Athens or alternatively to Kalamata. The transfer bus (not included) will take you comfortably from Athens to your hotel in Vytina.
Your first day of cycling takes you through the green mountains of Arcadia. Via Alonistaina, one of the highest villages in the Peloponnese, you cycle through pristine landscapes. After a short break in the charming village square, you continue to Piana, where the river Elissonas babbles idyllically. You finally reach Tripoli through gentle valleys and small forests. Explore the lively town on an evening stroll or enjoy the regional cuisine in one of the tavernas on the main square.
Your cycling vacation in Greece will allow you to discover the cultural treasures around Tripoli today. Your journey first takes you to Mantinea, one of the most important ancient sites in Arcadia. Between olive groves and vineyards, you can admire the well-preserved remains of the ancient city. Then continue to the impressive stalactite cave of Kapsia. Colorful stalactites and mysterious passages make the cave a real natural wonder. Cycle along small paths and through the open countryside back to Tripoli, where you can end the day in comfort.
On this stage, you will feel the landscape change. Across wide fields, you reach Tegea, where ancient walls and old churches tell of the region's rich heritage. The route continues through peaceful olive groves to Eva, a tranquil village full of Greek joie de vivre. After Eva, the gentle ascent begins, soon rewarding you with a magnificent view of the sea. The air gets fresher with every kilometer until you finally reach the coast. In Paralio Astros, you can enjoy Mediterranean lightness, fresh fish and a relaxed beach atmosphere.
Today, you follow the coastline northwards in a relaxed manner. After a few kilometers you reach Mili, a small village with a pretty beach – ideal for a short break by the sea. Your route then takes you slightly inland to Argos, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe. Here you can discover impressive ancient sites such as the Heraion or the well-preserved theater. On the last few kilometers, you cycle through wide plains before reaching charming Nafplio. The picturesque old town, the narrow streets and the Venetian fortress invite you to take a stroll in the evening.
Today you cycle from Nafplio into the world of ancient myths. The first stop is Tiryns, famous for its mighty Cyclopean walls, which have captured the imagination of visitors for thousands of years. After the visit, the tour continues through fertile plains towards Mycenae. The legendary Gate of the Lions, the royal palaces and the shaft tombs tell of one of the oldest advanced civilizations in Europe. After an extensive exploration, take a leisurely drive back to Nafplio, where you can end the day relaxing at the harbour or in one of the sunny squares.
A transfer will take you directly to Epidaurus, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Greece. Marvel at the ancient theater, which is famous for its perfect acoustics, and explore the extensive temple complexes. Then get on your bike and enjoy a varied ride through rolling hills and olive groves back towards Nafplio. Along the way, there are beautiful views of the blue sea and the green landscape. Once you arrive in Nafplio, you still have time for a relaxing last evening on the coast.
