Bike tour around the munich lakes in Bavaria

Day 1: Individual arrival in Munich

Dive into the hustle and bustle of the Upper Bavarian metropolis. Enjoy the view from the Olympic Tower. Discover the history of the city through its magnificent architecture. Consider a visit to one of the great museums here – the Pinacotheca or the famous Deutsches Museum. You could literally spend days there!

Day 2: Munich – Lake Starnberg, approx. 45 – 60 km

The first section of this cycle tour takes you through Forstenried Park to the famous Lake Starnberg. Traditional villages, villas and castles line the banks of this picturesque lake. Upper Bavaria could be right out of a picture book! And if you need to cool down, just hop into the beautifully clear water at any of the many bathing spots.

Day 3: Lake Starnberg – Murnau am Staffelsee, approx. 30 km

Passing Riegsee Lake, you get to Murnau and Murnau Moos – a huge old moor. Due to the large number of watercourses and lakes, an unparalleled wealth of species has been preserved here, which is particularly effective against the majestic Alpine panorama. Even Expressionists, such as Kandinsky, were impressed by this beautiful countryside. They called this area the Blue Country. In Murnau you can see the artists' works in one of the museums.

Day 4: Murnau am Staffelsee – Bad Tölz, approx. 50 km

Today's section takes you to the charming Kochelsee Lake. Crystal clear water, hardly a wave and all amidst the calm of the high peaks of the Alps in the background. Continue pedalling easily to the famous monastic village of Benediktbeuren. The expansive, baroque monastery used to be the spiritual and cultural centre of Upper Bavaria. You will soon reach Bad Tölz. You can still see signs of its heyday as a flourishing trade town in the colourfully painted houses.

Day 5: Bad Tölz – Munich, approx. 60 km

Enjoy the calm of the Upper Bavarian countryside before you return to Munich. You'll be cycling along the Isar river via Wolfratshausen to Bavaria's capital city. In the evening why not experience the special flair of this metropolis once again. At the centre of busy city life is the Marienplatz with its new town hall and also the Viktualienmarket, a daily food market with all kinds of delicious specialities from Bavaria.
