After an excursion to the famous Trakai water castle, you cycle through the rolling hills of Lithuania to Druskininkai, one of the best health resorts in Europe. Enjoy the peace and beauty of nature in the picturesque Wigry National Park before cycling through Poland on the GreenVelo route. Along the historic Augustów Canal and through the Biebrza National Park – a paradise for nature lovers with rare birds and wild animals – you will experience the diversity of nature up close.
On the last day of your trip, you will explore Warsaw, where history and modern architecture combine to create an exciting symbiosis. Welcome to Vilnius! The charming capital of Lithuania welcomes you with its baroque old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through the winding alleyways, discover magnificent churches and enjoy the lively flair of the city. Round off the evening with Lithuanian specialties in one of the cosy restaurants and look forward to your cycling holiday in Lithuania and Poland.
After breakfast, discover the most beautiful corners of Vilnius' old town on a guided tour. A transfer will then take you to Užutrakis, where your first cycle tour begins. The route takes you through rolling hills and past glistening lakes to Trakai. The former capital of the Lithuanian Grand Duchy impresses with its famous 14th century moated castle, picturesquely situated on an island in Lake Galvė.
In the morning, a transfer will take you to Merkinė, where your cycle tour towards Druskininkai begins. You cycle through an idyllic landscape and pass Liškiava with its impressive monastery ensemble from the 17th and 18th centuries. Druskininkai, one of the best health resorts in Europe, awaits you with healing mineral springs and extensive parks. A highlight of your cycling holiday in Lithuania and Poland is a visit to Grūtas Park, a unique open-air museum with former Soviet monuments, which offers exciting insights into the history of the country.
In the morning, a transfer will take you to Dzūkija National Park, the largest national park in Lithuania. The protected area is known for its endless pine forests, which cover almost the entire territory, and is one of the few PAN parks in Europe – a network of particularly untouched natural landscapes. Your cycle tour takes you along quiet paths through dense forests and picturesque, traditional villages where time seems to have stood still. The vast, unspoiled landscapes make this stage a special experience for nature lovers. In the afternoon, you have the choice: relax in the spa town of Druskininkai or explore the well-developed cycle paths of the forest on an additional circular tour.
In the morning, a transfer takes you across the Lithuanian-Polish border. Once you arrive in Poland, your cycle tour begins through a gently undulating landscape with wonderful views of glistening lakes and dense forests. On the way, you will reach Suwałki, the largest city in the region and an important cultural center. It is worth making a short stop here to discover the charming old town and the classicist buildings. The tour then continues to the Wigry National Park. The untouched nature with deep blue lakes and dense forests makes this section one of the most beautiful on your cycling holiday in Lithuania and Poland. Your destination for the day is the small village of Gawrych Ruda, idyllically situated on the lakeshore - the perfect place to end the day in a relaxed manner.
Today you will explore the Wigry National Park on a circular tour along marked cycle paths. Lake Wigry, with its 15 islands one of the largest and deepest lakes in Podlaskie, forms the impressive backdrop to your stage. On the way, you will visit the historic Kamaldolese monastery from the 17th century. The impressive building complex with a church and 17 hermitages is picturesquely situated on a peninsula and offers fascinating insights into the life of the reclusive monks. After cycling around the lake, you return to Gawrych Ruda and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere by the water.
On today's stage of your cycling vacation in Lithuania and Poland, you follow the GreenVelo route through a beautiful lake landscape. Along the way, you will cycle along the historic Augustów Canal, an engineering masterpiece from the 19th century that connects the region's waterways. Your destination is Augustów, a small but lively town on the River Netta. It is considered the gateway to the Suwałki region and attracts visitors with its relaxed atmosphere and picturesque riverside promenade. After a short break, a transfer takes you to Goniądz, which is idyllically situated on the edge of Biebrza National Park – a true natural paradise with extensive wetlands and unique wildlife.
In the morning, you cycle along the Royal Route (Trakt Królewski) through Biebrza National Park, the largest wetland area in Poland. The untouched marshes provide a habitat for rare wetland birds, moose and beavers – with a bit of luck, you may spot some of these animals along the route. After the cycle tour, a transfer will take you to the vibrant capital city of Warsaw. After checking into your hotel, you will discover the historic old town on a guided tour. The lovingly restored alleyways, the market square and the royal palace tell of the city's eventful history and invite you to take a stroll.
Today you can organize the day as you wish. Explore Warsaw on your own or optionally take part in a guided cycle tour (not included in the price). This takes you through the Old Town, the city center and along green riverside paths on both sides of the Vistula. During the tour, you will pass numerous cultural and historical sights, which you can later discover individually. Alternatively, the city's many parks, museums and cafés invite you to relax and enjoy the flair of the Polish capital.
After eventful days full of nature, culture and unforgettable cycling experiences, your trip ends in Warsaw. Depending on your departure time, you may still have time for a last stroll through the old town or a cup of coffee in one of the cozy street cafés. You then set off on your individual journey home – with many wonderful memories of your cycling holiday in Lithuania and Poland in your luggage!
