Bonjour et bienvenue en France! This should get you in the right mood for your cycle tour in Southern France: The canal, which was built over 150 years ago as an extension of the Canal du Midi, will impress you with its uniqueness and the intoxicating charm of Southern France. Its original purpose was commercial shipping. Today, it mostly attracts water sports enthusiasts, houseboats and cyclists. On the way between Bordeaux and Toulouse, you will ride on largely flat paths almost continuously along the banks of the waterway. The numerous locks and bridges create an incomparable nature experience. Idyllic villages and historically interesting towns make your cycle tour in Southern France an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Bordeaux

If you still have a little time to spare after your arrival in Bordeaux, use it to explore this wine metropolis. Whether it's the Miroir d'Eau water mirror, the Cité du Vin wine museum or the Chartrons artists' quarter – there is no shortage of sights. To get in the mood for your cycle tour in Southern France, treat yourself to a glass of the famous Bordeaux wine in the evening.

Day 2: Bordeaux – Camiran, approx. 65 km (Cat A) / Bordeaux – Frontenac, approx. 45 km (Cat B)

On the very first stage, you cycle through the beautiful landscape of the Entre-Deux-Mers wine region. Some of the vineyards have been cultivated by monks for centuries. Medieval towns, meadows and forests accompany you on the well-maintained cycle paths. It is worth taking a break at the former fortifications in Créon.

Day 3: Camiran – Le Mas d´Agenais, approx. 45 km (Cat A), Frontenac – Le Mas d´Agenais, approx. 55 km (Cat B)

First, you cycle along the greenway, which takes you to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne far away from the traffic on old railroad lines. The small town of La Réole is not only worth a visit because of its well-preserved medieval town wall – you also have a wonderful view of the Garonne here. In Le Mas d'Agenais, you will come across a real treasure: Inside the Romanesque church marvel at a genuine Rembrandt painting!

Day 4: Le Mas d'Agenais – Sérignac sur Garonne, approx. 45 km

On your cycle tour in Southern France today, you will cycle at a very leisurely pace, mostly directly along the banks. Beautiful orchards line your path. You cycle through centuries-old charming villages that are well worth a short break. You will spend the evening and night in Sérignac in a small hotel, which used to be a monastery.

Day 5: Sérignac sur Garonne – Moissac, approx. 55 km

You cycle past richly bearing fruit trees and gentle vineyards along the canal. The small town of Agen is not only known for its picturesque old town, but also for the plums that grow in the surrounding area. A special highlight is the Pont-canal d'Agen (Agen aqueduct). Shipping traffic crosses the Garonne here via a 549 m long bridge. Cycle to Moissac on the pleasantly shadowy riverside path.

The last stage of your cycle tour in Southern France is already upon you. Shortly after Moissac, the next canal bridge built over the Tarn River awaits you. You cycle comfortably along flat paths to the lively city of Toulouse. Toulouse owes its nickname the pink city to its numerous brick buildings. Whether you visit the Basilica of Saint-Sernin and the Capitole or simply relax on the banks of the Garonne, it is up to you.
