Day 1: Individual arrival in Ettlingen
You start your bike tour on the Black Forest Panorama Cycle Route in Ettlingen. The pretty little town lies at the foot of the Black Forest and is the gateway to the Alb valley. The picturesque Alb river dominates the townscape. It flows through the middle of the old town, where it is spanned by numerous small pedestrian bridges. Visit Ettlingen Castle, which is located in the city centre. It houses a city museum that offers insights into the history of the castle and the city. If you travel in July and August, you may be lucky enough to attend an open-air theatre performance in the baroque ambience at the castle festival.
Day 2: Ettlingen – Bad Wildbad, approx. 55 km
The first stage takes you from Ettlingen into the northern Black Forest. Even from a distance you can see the deep green hills of the legendary low mountain range. A particularly impressive panoramic view awaits you at the Schwanner Warte near Straubenhardt. You master the first ascents of your bike tour and arrive in the tranquil Black Forest village of Dobel. Enjoy the pleasant fresh mountain air and the peace and quiet amidst the seemingly endless forest landscape. You will reach Bad Wildbad via the Sommerberg. Get off your bike and relax in one of the two thermal baths of the traditional spa town.
Day 3: Bad Wildbad – Freudenstadt, approx. 45 km + cable car
Your day begins with a cable car ride up to the high plateau of the Sommerberg mountain. Here you have the opportunity to get to know the Black Forest from unusual perspectives – whether on the treetop path or on the Wildline suspension bridge that curves upwards. You will now cycle along the Black Forest Panorama Cycle Route past the unique high moorland landscape at Kaltenbronn. Germany's largest market square is in the centre of Freudenstadt, your destination for today's stage. Explore the square on a walk. Along the arcades, numerous cafés and restaurants tempt you with local specialities – the ideal place for an atmospheric dinner.
Day 4: Freudenstadt – Villingen, approx. 60 km
The third stage of your cycle tour takes you further along the Black Forest Panorama Cycle Route. The route to the twin town of Villingen-Schwenningen is idyllically rural. You cycle past small Black Forest villages such as Seedorf and Mariazell. Isolated farmsteads, surrounded by lush green pastures and picturesque orchards, line your path. If you are willing to put up with a few more kilometres, you will discover highlights along the route such as the Alpirsbach monastery with the brewery of the same name. Once you arrive in Villingen, enjoy the city flair again. In the evening, take a tour of the historic town centre of Villingen, which is well worth seeing.
Day 5: Villingen – Titisee, approx. 45 km
With its woods and views, the route goes up and down through one of the most beautiful sections of the Black Forest. Today you will reach the highest point of your bike tour – the Höchstberg mountain. The efforts on the climbs in the Upper Black Forest are rewarded with breathtaking panoramas. Again and again, sweeping descents give you the opportunity to relax your calves. The cool waters of Lake Kirnbergsee and Lake Titisee provide the necessary refreshment. The well-known Titisee with the town of the same name on the northern shore forms the crowning conclusion of the stage. A boat trip across the lake, which lies in the shade of the forested mountains, is a must.
Day 6: Titisee – Freiburg, approx. 40 km
On the last stage of your cycle tour on the Black Forest Panorama Cycle Route, enjoy the beautiful fairytale mountain and forest landscape of the Black Forest to the fullest. From Titisee you cycle via Hinterzarten and Oberried to Kirchzarten through the Southern Black Forest Nature Park. Breathe in the healthy mountain air one last time before you leave the Black Forest behind. You will reach Freiburg. The city with the most hours of sunshine in Germany is the final point of your cycling tour. From Freiburg's local mountain, Schauinsland, you have a fantastic view of the Black Forest hills you have cycled through.
