Our bike tour around Valencia is an exciting bike tour, that leads you to sun-kissed Mediterranean beaches and wonderful places inside the country. You start in Valencia. As the vibrant capital city of the province with the same name, Valencia is the ideal starting point to spend a bike holiday, that you will remember for a very long time. After a detour to the Albufera nature park and the slightly hilly hinterland around Mora de Rubielos and the spa town Montanejos, you cycle back to the Mediterranean Sea to Castellón de la Plana. Along the Costa del Azahar – the coast of the orange flower –it goes to the picturesque town Peñiscola on our bike tour around Valencia. Don’t forget to take your swimwear with you! Along the Costa del Azahar, you will find countless sand beaches and bays, that invite to take relaxed sun baths and jumps into the cold wet of the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the cuisine on our bike tour around Valencia will not disappoint you. The region around the port city is regarded as the home of Paella. Try different variations of the national dish of the Spanish eastern coast. Or how about a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice made from Valencian oranges? Day 1: Individual arrival in Valencia

Welcome to the Spanish eastern coast. Your bike tour around Valencia starts in the third biggest city of the country. Located directly at the Mediterranean Sea, the city has besides its three beaches a lot to offer. Founded by the Romans, Valencia once developed to an European trading power. Today, the city impresses with many historic buildings and a vivid cultural scene. In the evening, enjoy a  paella, a rice dish that is typical for the Valencian kitchen and prepared in many different variations.

Day 2: Trip to the Albufera national park, approx. 40 km

In the morning, you will get your bikes. Let’s go! Your first stage leads you to the Parc Natural de l’Albufera de València. It is named after the lake, that is in its middle and has a diverse fauna and flora, that can be observed all year round. If you want to go to the sea on your way, that’s no problem. Between Valencia and the nature park, you will find some beaches, that are perfect for sun and water lovers. Back in Valencia, you have again the opportunity to explore the city.

Day 3: Valencia – Barracas (Transfer), Barracas – Mora de Rubielos, approx. 35 km

Today, it goes by transfer (included) inland to Barracas. There, you take your bike and reach the Sierra de Gúdar. In the middle of the up to 2000-meter-high mountain range is Mora de Rubielos, today’s destination. The townscape of the adorable city is characterized by its powerful castle. It emerged in the 13th century. Also worth seeing is the church Santa Maria built in the Gothic style.

Day 4: Mora de Rubielos – Montanejos, approx. 40 km

Along curvy and by trees and hills lined roads, you cycle to Montanejos at the third stage of your bike tour around Valencia. On the road, you pass the artificial lake of Arenós.  It was built in the 1970s and covers the former community Campos de Arenoso, that had to give way to the building. Today’s destination Montanejos is known nationwide for its thermal springs. Thermal water is said to have a healing and purifying effect – Try it out!

Day 5: Montanejos – Onda, approx. 40 km, Onda – El Grao de Castellón (Transfer)

You cycle through the wonderful river valley of the Rio Mijares and reach Onda. Explore the city, that looks back to a long tradition of ceramic production, before you will be brought to El Grao de Castellón by transfer (included). As a part of the port city Castellón de la Plana, the port quarter has a lot to offer. Enjoy your time at one of the beaches and treat yourself with freshly prepared sea specialties in one of the numerous restaurants in the evening.

Day 6: El Grao de Castellón – Alcossebre, approx. 50 km

On small coastal roads and with a view to the Costa del Azahar, which means coast of the orange flower, today, you cycle to Alcossebre on your bike tour around Valencia. It is worth to take your swimwear with you, as on your way, there will be many opportunities for a spontaneous jump into the sea. Also the beaches and the bays in Alcossebre, that are separated by rock formations are worth seeing.

Day 7: Alcossebre – Peñíscola, approx. 20 km

The shortest stage of your bike tour around Valencia leads you back and forth through the nature park Sierra de Irta. You reach Peñíscola, your destination. The historic old town is located on an impressive rock, that seems like the proverbial tower of strength and rages about 65 m out of the sea. Visit the castle there and the wide sand beaches in the North of the city. Enjoy your last evening at the Mediterranean Sea, before you cycle back home tomorrow.

Day 8: Individual departure or extension of stay

Your bike tour around Valencia already ends after breakfast. With pleasure we extend your stay in Peñiscola or Valencia with an additional nigh on request.

    You mainly cycle on land roads, that are mostly asphalted and that mostly lead through a flat territory with a few small uphill climbs. However, be prepared to cycle on some cycle and field.
