Day 1: Individual arrival to Odense
Your bike tour from Odense to Aarhus starts on the island of Funen. After your arrival at the hotel, grab your bike and explore Denmark's third largest city in a relaxed way. Odense's most famous son is the writer Hans Christian Andersen. Known worldwide for his fairy tales, you can learn more about him at many places in the city, such as his birthplace, the H. C. Andersen Hus. If you are drawn to the water, a boat trip on the Odense Å is ideal to get to know Odense from another side.
.
2nd day: Odense - Middelfart, approx. 60 / 65 km
Today we're heading to the Little Belt, the strait between Funen and the Danish mainland. On Cycle Route 6 you will experience the lush nature and idyllic landscape of Funen, which rightly earned the island the name Garden of Denmark. Once in Middelfart, it's worth taking an extended tour of the town. The Henner Friisers Hus is considered one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in Denmark. Or how about a boat trip across the Little Belt? It is one of the whale-richest waters in the world and home to many porpoises.
Day 3: Middelfart - Vejle, approx. 55 km
Over the Lillebæltsbroen you leave Middelfart and reach the coast of Jutland. A first stop is worthwhile in Fredericia. The city center, laid out in a checkerboard pattern, is surrounded by a historic rampart where you can visit old cannons and guard buildings. The old landmark of Vejle, your destination for today, is the windmill located in the middle of the city, visible from many places in the city. New, on the other hand, is the wave-shaped Bølgen housing complex by the harbor. It has won several awards and is a real eye-catcher.
Day 4: Vejle - Horsens, approx. 45 km
With the bridge over Vejle Fjord in view, the bike tour from Odense to Aarhus first takes you along the coast. Inland it goes on partly hilly cycle paths mainly through forests. In Horsens you have the opportunity to visit the former state prison. It has been converted into a museum and cultural site that is known beyond the region. The most famous son of the town is Vitus Bering. He proved in the 18th century that Asia is not connected with North America. Near the railroad station a small park commemorates the namesake of the Bering Strait.
Day 5: Horsens - Norsminde / Odder, approx. 50 / 60 km
Along the Horsens Fjord you will cycle almost without climbing to Hou, a small harbor town. On the way you will be offered again and again fantastic views of the Baltic Sea and one or the other beach awaits you for a longer break. In Odder you will discover the historic water and steam mill as well as the Odder Sognekirke, one of the oldest churches in Denmark. In Norsminde, a walk to the small harbor including a tasting of freshly smoked fish is worthwhile. You will spend the night in Odder or Norsminde.
Day 6: Norsminde / Odder - Aarhus, approx. 30 / 20 km
The shortest stage of your bike tour from Odense takes you to your destination Aarhus. Along the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to take breaks on the beach or simply enjoy the view of the sea. Denmark's second largest city, Aarhus welcomes you with a wealth of remarkable sights and a vibrant cultural scene. Visit the ARoS art museum, stroll along Aarhus Å, or feast your way through the diverse restaurant scene.
