Day 1: Individual arrival in Aguilar de Campoo

Our bike tour in Asturias around the Picos de Europa begins in Aguilar de Campoo. After arriving at your hotel, explore the pretty medieval town. Visit the church of Santa Cecilia and the ruins of the Castillo de Aguilar de Campoo, a castle complex above the town that is over 1000 years old. Or how about a long walk to the reservoir at the gates of the town?

Day 2: Aguilar de Campoo – Cervera de Pisuerga, approx. 40 km / 480 elev.

Vamos! Once you have received your bike, you are ready to set off! You cycle not far from the Aguilar reservoir and along the River Pisuerga through small villages and impressive landscapes until you reach your stage destination of Cervera de Pisuerga. Situated at an altitude of around 1000 meters, the village looks back on an eventful past. Traces of this history can be seen in the houses decorated with stone coats of arms and the Gothic church of Santa Maria del Castillo. The burial chapel of Santa Ana with its Spanish-Flemish altar is particularly noteworthy.

Day 3: Cervera de Pisuerga – Potes, approx. 60 km / 480 elev.

Your bike tour in Asturias around the Picos de Europa takes you along quiet country roads in the Spanish region of Cantabria. Enjoy wonderful cycling moments along the way, taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains of the Picos de Europa National Park. The small town of Potes on the edge of the national park is your overnight stay for the next two nights. Try the town's most famous dish, the chickpea stew Cocido Lebaniego. Accompanied by the pomace brandy Orujo? It is made from wine grown in the valley. Cheers to you!

Day 4: Round trip Potes, approx. 50 km / 830 elev.

You can organize today's day of your bike tour in Asturias around the Picos de Europa entirely as you wish. We recommend an excursion to Fuente Dé in the heart of the Picos de Europa. Before you reach the village, you will have to pedal hard. The effort is worth it! The cable car (not included) takes you to the mountain station in just a few minutes, from where you can enjoy an impressive view of the surrounding mountains. Alternatively, you can cycle to the medieval monastery of Santo Toribio, not far from Potes. The monastery's greatest treasure is a part of the Holy Cross, which makes the place of worship interesting not only for pilgrims.

From Potes, you cycle through valleys surrounded by rocks and mountains not far from the Río Deva and Río Cares rivers. On the way, you cross the border between the regions of Cantabria and Asturias unnoticed. North of the Picos de Europa, you reach Arenas de Cabrales. The town is famous throughout the region for its Cabrales, a blue cheese made from cow's, goat's and sheep's milk and matured in caves. Every year in August, a festival is held in his honor, at which the best cheese in the region is chosen.
