Travel report: Short bike trip on Lake Constance

What does a cycle tour on Lake Constance really feel like? To find out, our employees test the tours themselves. Our employee Tim personally tested the tour "Short Bike Trip on Lake Constance - discover the Obersee and Constance".
Shortly after Easter, he spent three days cycling around Lake Constance in the fresh spring air - with sweeping views of the Alps, quiet stretches of shore and lots of little moments that you can only experience on a bike.

It is a tradition at Radweg-Reisen that new employees in the reservations department cycle one of our tours around Lake Constance themselves. This was also the case for me: shortly after Easter, I cycled the "Short vacation by bike around Lake Constance - Discover the Obersee and Constance" in perfect spring weather.
The main thing here is to really experience the trip from our guests' perspective - from the first stage to the accommodation in the evening. This gives us a good feel for how the route goes, how the processes work and what is important along the way so that we can give our guests the most specific and honest advice possible later on.
In three days and two nights, we cycled once clockwise around the Obersee. The stages are easy to complete, as the daily distances are moderate and mostly on well-maintained cycle paths. There are hardly any major climbs and the route is very even overall. What's more, there are plenty of opportunities for breaks, refreshments or short stops along the way, so you can cycle the route at your own pace. Time and again, I was treated to an impressive panorama with views of the snow-covered Alps.
It's precisely these moments that you can't plan: You pedal, look to the right - and prefer to stop right away because the view is simply too beautiful to enjoy as you ride past. The tour is planned in such a way that there is enough time for short breaks, spontaneous photo stops and relaxed moments to take in the tranquillity of the lakeshore in complete serenity.
Although I've lived on Lake Constance for years, I felt like I was discovering the region all over again.
The evening in Lindau was a highlight for me. After the stage, I was able to end the day relaxing at the harbor with live music and a view of the sunset. It was a very fitting end to a day's cycling.
I also felt really at home at the Hotel Seegarten in Arbon. The welcome was warm and the stylish ambience was a good match for the relaxed atmosphere of the trip. After a day on the bike, it was a pleasant place to come to rest and recharge my batteries.
The tour as a whole is ideal for anyone who wants to combine exercise with relaxation. The route is not too challenging and is suitable for both beginners and families.
For me, it was a good experience to see Lake Constance from this perspective once again. What surprised me personally the most: although I have lived in the Lake Constance region for years, I felt like I got to know it in a completely new way on this trip.
Maybe it's because you move more slowly on a bike, notice things more consciously and discover the small, inconspicuous things that often go unnoticed in everyday life. So I'm already looking forward to my next tour, which will take me around Untersee.
