Day 1: Individual arrival in Bordeaux
Begin your Biketour along the Bay of Biscay with your arrival in Bordeaux. Take your time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city: stroll along the Garonne docks, wander through the lively streets of the St Pierre district, browse for treasures in the Chartrons quarter, or enjoy the reflection of the water at the famous Miroir d’Eau. A perfect introduction to your coastal cycling adventure.
Day 2: Bordeaux - Lacanau, approx. 65 km
Leaving Bordeaux, you follow well-marked cycle paths that gently lead you toward the vast Landes forest, the largest pine forest in France. This stage offers a smooth start, blending urban outskirts with natural scenery, before arriving at Lacanau Océan – your first seaside stop on the Biketour along the Bay of Biscay.
Day 3: Lacanau - Arcachon, approx. 45 km + ferry ride
Today’s ride takes you along the Atlantic coast, through a mix of pine forests and fine sand dunes. At Cap Ferret, board the ferry with your bike to reach Arcachon. Your hotel is conveniently located near the beaches, perfect for enjoying the sea and relaxing after your ride.
Day 4: Arcachon - Biscarrosse Plage / Ville, approx. 30 / 50 km
This shorter stage allows you to explore a highlight of the region: the imposing Dune du Pilat. After the ascent, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Arcachon. You then cycle on towards Biscarrosse and enjoy the tranquil coastal landscape.
Day 5: Biscarrosse Plage / Ville - Mimizan Plage / Contis les Bains, approx. 60 km
Today the route ventures slightly inland, through the lakes and ponds of the Landes region. Winding between dunes and large lakes such as Biscarrosse, Parentis, and Aureilhan, you’ll enjoy a varied and scenic ride. In the afternoon, arrive at Mimizan Plage, a lively seaside resort with charming Belle-Epoque villas.
Day 6: Mimizan Plage / Contis les Bains - Vieux Boucau / Capbreton, approx. 60 / 65 km
Your Biketour along the Bay of Biscay now continues peacefully through the coastal pine forests. A short detour to the Contis lighthouse offers a fantastic viewpoint from its 183 steps. After a refreshing swim at Leon Lake, you reach Vieux Boucau with its picturesque marine lake – an ideal spot to rest and unwind.
Day 7: Vieux Boucau / Capbreton) - Biarritz, approx. 60 / 40 km
The final stage of your Biketour along the Bay of Biscay takes you along Europe’s longest sandy beaches to the famous surfing paradise of Biarritz. Along the way, pass through Hossegor and Capbreton, and don’t miss a walk along the historic Estacade, a wooden pier built during Napoleon III’s reign. A fitting finale to your Atlantic coastal adventure.
Day 8: Individual departure
After breakfast, your cycle tour ends on the Bay of Biscay. We are also happy to extend your stay in Biarritz.
