An exciting bike holiday awaits you in Croatia: You will explore one of Europe’s most beautiful mountain bike regions on unpaved and partially blocked trails. This mountain bike and boat tour in Croatia is made for cyclists who aren’t scared to master significant elevation gains and are always looking for the next downhill adventure. You will have beautiful views of the Croatian coast on the enchanting South Dalmatian islands. Enjoy exhilarating descents back to your boat on single trails and nature paths. Should you want a break from cycling, you can stay on board and enjoy the Croatian sun. The mountain bike tours in Croatia are offered in two levels of difficulty, so tours are tailored to cyclists’ abilities. However, you should be familiar with the most important mountain bike techniques and have good stamina.
The Scherka family warmly welcomes you on your boat in Croatia! The oak motor yacht San Snova was completed in 2009 and has taken happy holiday makers to most beautiful islands off the Croatian coast ever since. The atmosphere on board is relaxed and homely. After an exciting tour you can either relax on the sun deck or cool off in the sea. One of the great advantages of a boat and bike holiday in Croatia is that you can jump directly from your boat into the crystal clear waves of the Mediterranean!
Show more Show lessThe comfortable boat San Snova awaits you in Trogir harbour. The anchor is weighed at 13.30. While you are getting to know your hosts and your fellow travellers, your boat sets sail for the Island of Šolta, where you will embark on your first bike tour. This short mountain bike tour will take you through a picture perfect Mediterranean landscape: stone walls, olive groves and fig trees line your way. You will visit a beekeeper, who will explain the significance of bees and honey production in Croatia, before returning to your boat on short trails.
In the morning, your ship will sail to the next island off the Croatian coast – the Island of Brač. After mooring in Postira, you will cycle along an idyllic dirt path along the coast. Cycling past fish farms, submarine pens and lonely bays, you will always have a great view of the Mediterranean and the neighbouring islands. You will also have the option of visiting the former monastery Blaža. Cycle downhill either by following an impressive single trail with loose rocks, or choose the exhilarating descent with a great view of the Croatian mainland and the Cetina Canyon.
During breakfast, your boat will take you to the crowning stage of your journey: This tour takes you to the island’s highest point, which is also the highest point of any Adriatic island. Cycle past herb meadows, ancient olive trees and impressive karst formations steadily gaining altitude. Once you have reached the peak of the Vidova Gora you will be 780 metres above sea level. Enjoy the unique view – can you see the Zlatni Rat? The “golden Horn” is Croatia’s most famous beach and also the landmark of the island of Bol. For the descent you can once again choose between a challenging single trail and a broader path.
The small island of Vis is located approximately 60 kilometres from the mainland and is famous for wine cultivation. With its many hills, gravel and nature paths it is ideal for mountain bike excursions. Some mountain bike experience is needed for the tour to the island’s highest point. Alternatively you can choose the less challenging route, on which you will have splendid views of the islands off the Croatian coast. Back on the boat you can enjoy the sunshine while your boat takes you to Korčula.
You will cycle along the sea on this beautiful stage to Blato on the island of Korčula. One side of the path is lined with ancient gnarled olive trees, while the stone terrace slopes steeply towards the sea on the other. You will whizz uphill and downhill, always with a refreshing breeze in your face – this is how a perfect mountain bike holiday feels! In the charming small island town of Blato you cannot only see the ruins of a Roman settlement, but also a church from the 14th century. You also have the option of taking a challenging but worthwhile detour to the Hum overlook. An exciting trail will then take you to the harbour, where your boat already awaits you.
After sailing to the Island of Hvar the previous evening, you will get on your mountain bike first thing in the morning. From Stari Grad you will master the ascent to the top of the pass on an asphalted road. You will be rewarded with a beautiful view of Stari Grad, ancient Greek vineyards and the surrounding Mediterranean. After a speedy descent, you will have enough time to visit the impressive Spanish fortress. Your route will take you back to your boat through an abandoned village. In the evening you will set sail for Split. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of Croatia’s second largest city.
Today you can either casually stroll through the narrow alleys of Split, along the quay promenade, the “Riva”, or marvel at the Palace of Diocletian and its extensive cellar vault. The city and the palace are UNESCO world heritage sites – there is so much to see! If you would prefer to spend the day on your bike, you will find great mountain bike trails on the Marjan hill. In the afternoon you will sail to Trogir, past the picturesque cliffs of Čiovo. Weather permitting, your captain will once again drop anchor for a swimming break. Jump from your boat straight into the deep blue Mediterranean!
Your mountain bike and boat tour in Croatia ends with disembarkation, which will take place before 09.00. We hope you had an unforgettable time!
