Along one of the most beautiful waterways, the Mosel cycle path takes you through Germany's most well-known region for wine. You always keep to the waterside, which winds its stately way slowly through the hills. Wonder at the Roman town of Treves with its famous Porta Nigra, the emperor's baths and a perfectly intact amphitheatre. You will get to know places such as Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach and Cochem, which all line the Mosel cycle path. In between is the lush green of the gentle vineyards. Where Mosel and Rhine meet is Coblenz and the Deutsche Eck or German Corner. Don't miss out on tasting the Mosel wines.

Porta Nigra, Treves

Day 1: Individual Arrival in Treves

Discover 2000 years of history in 2000 steps: From the Roman city gate Porta Nigra and the Roman House of Three Kings to the rococo palace of the Elector ‒ within its walls Trier can show you a lot of German history. Definitely try the Riesling wines here from the Mosel-Ruwer region. Reserved rental bicycles are parked at the hotel ready for you.

Moselle, Trittenheim

Day 2: Treves – Trittenheim, approx. 40 km

Your first day in the saddle takes you out of Treves to Schweich with its wonderful old ferry boat tower. Passing sloping vineyards you arrive in Mehring, where we recommend visiting Villa Rustika with its Roman archaeological excavations. Further on the Moselle Cycle Route, you can watch the boats at Detzen before you arrive at today’s destination Trittenheim.

tower, Bernkastel-Kues

Day 3: Trittenheim - Zeltingen, approx. 35 km

Today you will cycle through Neumagen, the oldest winegrowing area of Germany, and on to Piesport with its interesting Roman winepress. Cycling through small winegrowing villages you will reach Bernkastel, which is famous for its medieval timber framed houses. Soon after you will reach your destination of Zeltingen with its pretty buildings in baroque style.

gate, Traben-Trarbach

Day 4: Zeltingen – Zell, approx. 35 km

Today’s tour leads you along the Mosel through Kröv with its famous wine producing region of Kröver Nacktarsch, and on to Traben-Trarbach. This small town is a jewel in classical and Jugendstil style. Yout then continue to cycle along the Zeller Hamm, a hill which the Mosel loops past and on to Zell, which has 4.5 million vines and is one of the largest winegrowing areas.

castle Metternich, Beilstein

Day 5: Zell – Treis-Karden, approx. 45 km

Passing charming little villages, the route winds along the Mosel to Beilstein with its pretty timber-frame historic quarter. Looking down on the town are the ruins of Metternich, which was once owned by the Reichs Chancellor of the same name. The holiday town of Cochem follows, and Reichsburg castle. The ruins of Coraidelstein provide the backdrop to your route as you finally reach today's destination.

overlook, Coblenz

Day 6: Treis-Karden – Coblenz, approx. 45 km

The well-paved paths mean that you can speed along on your way to Coblenz. On the way, you should visit Germany's oldest timber-frame hose, the Abteihof in Kobern-Gondorf, from 1320. In Koblenz we recommend taking a trip to the famous Deutsche Eck – the German corner where Mosel and Rhine merge. The climb to the fort of Ehrenbreitenstein is rewarded with an almost overwhelming panoramic view.

memorial, Coblenz

Day 7: Individual Return Journey or extended stay

After breakfast you will return to Treves or return home. We would be more than happy to extend your stay along the Moselle cycle path.
