The natural beauty of the islands is everywhere – on the long-drawn island of Hiddensee, the impressive Cape Arkona and the steep chalk cliffs on Rügen and the beaches of Usedom. The great thing on this holiday is that you're not in a different hotel every night and you get to spend a few days on the beach. This cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom is ideal for people who enjoy cycling, but don't want to face the pressure every day of cycling longer legs of the journey.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Stralsund

The starting point of your cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom is the old Hanseatic city of Stralsund, which is believed to have been founded in the 10th century. Stralsund's old town is characterised by a wealth of historic buildings, mostly in the brick Gothic style - simply worth seeing! Also worthwhile is a visit to the maritime museum, which is housed in a former church and takes you into the underwater world of the oceans.

Day 2: Stralsund – Hiddensee – Breege / Glowe, approx. 15 – 30 km + boat trips

In the morning you take the ferry that brings you across the Strelasund to the island of Hiddensee. There is plenty of time to visit the island's landmark, the 28-metre-high Dornbusch lighthouse, and to admire the sparkling gold treasure in the local museum. In the afternoon, the tour continues by sea to Breege on the island of Rügen.

Day 3: Round trip Cape Arkona, approx. 40 – 60 km

Cape Arkona, the northernmost point of Rügen, impresses with its 45-metre-high steep coast. Enjoy the peace and quiet, as a car-free zone has been set up all around! The picturesque fishing village of Vitt, which consists of a handful of thatched houses, literally ducks into the surrounding landscape. Not only the octagonal village chapel is worth seeing. South of Vitt you can enjoy the most beautiful view of the famous Cape Arkona!

Day 4: Bath Day in Breege / Glowe

Today's day of your cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom is all about the beach, sand and the Baltic Sea. Walk barefoot in the sand, jump into the salty waves or just read a good book in one of the typical beach chairs. The old captain's houses in Breege are a reminder of the old seafaring culture of the small town. A cycling holiday on Rügen can be this cosy!

Day 5: Breege / Glowe – Sassnitz, approx. 40 / 30 km

You cycle along the Schaabe, which connects the peninsulas of Wittow and Jasmund in a crescent shape. On the way, you visit the oldest castle on the island, Spyker Castle. With its red exterior façade, it immediately catches the eye. Today's destination, Sassnitz, already inspired Kaiser Wilhelm and Theodor Fontane! Fontane once wrote: To travel to Rügen is to travel to Sassnitz.

Day 6: Visit to the chalk cliffs, approx. 20 km or boat trip

With its 500 hectares of beech forest, moors, meadows and tranquil lakes, Jasmund National Park is a natural paradise par excellence. The landmarks of Rügen are the chalk cliffs with the 118-metre-high Königsstuhl. The cycle tour to the chalk cliffs is short but strenuous. If you feel like taking it easy, you can choose the sea route to the chalk cliffs (boat trip not included). An old wooden staircase with 412 steps leads from the beach to the plateau.

Day 7: Sassnitz – Sellin / Göhren, approx. 30 / 40 km

After leaving Sassnitz behind, you will reach the impressive buildings of Prora after a few kilometres on today's stage of your cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom. Only a few kilometres away, Binz, the largest seaside resort on Rügen, awaits you. From Binz you first cycle a little away from the Baltic Sea and have the opportunity to make a detour to the Granitz hunting lodge. The pier in Sellin, almost 400 metres long, is another highlight of today's stage. A few kilometres away you reach Göhren on the Mönchgut peninsula. You will spend the night in Sellin or Göhren.

Day 8: Bathing day or hike on the Mönchsgut peninsula

The Mönchsgut peninsula is surrounded by the Baltic on three sides and is one of Rügen's wonderful secrets. The countryside presents itself it a muted range of greys: hills and heaths, dunes and forests characterise Rügen's south east. Decide spontaneously today what you would like to do: a relaxing day at the beach or long walk through the dunes.

Day 9: Göhren – Greifswald, approx. 50 km + train and ferry trip

At the start of today's stage of your cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom, you can look forward to a very special highlight: the Rasende Roland, the historic steam locomotive from the 19th century, will take you to Putbus. After a few kilometres on the bike, you will sail back to the mainland on a ferry (not included). The traditional Hanseatic town of Greifswald is already waiting for you!

Day 10: Greifswald – Wolgast, approx. 50 km

Today you will be cycling along the Baltic Coast cycle path to Wolgast, the gate to the island of Usedom. You pedal through charming lake, moor and meadow countryside and experience the beauty of the Baltic Coastline – up close! Take the time for a wander through the charming historic quarter of Wolgast, with its timber-framed buildings and brick houses.

Day 11: Wolgast – Heringsdorf / Mellenthin, approx. 40 / 50 km

You cross the Peene River and have thus arrived on Usedom, the last island of your cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom. The path takes you not far from the Krumminer Wiek to the Baltic seaside resort of Zinnowitz. From there you cycle along the wooded coast. On the way, there are always opportunities to swim at beautiful sandy beaches. You will spend the night in the Baltic Sea resort of Heringsdorf or inland in Mellenthin.

Day 12: Heringsdorf / Mellenthin - Ueckermünde, approx. 50 / 60 km + boat trip

Your cycling holiday on Hiddensee, Rügen and Usedom takes you to the Szczecin Lagoon today. After turning your back on the Baltic Sea, you will first cycle through the southwest of Usedom. The town of Usedom is a good place to take a longer break. It gave the island of Usedom its name. Relax at Usedom Lake after a walk through the town before taking the ferry across the Peene River from Karnin to Kamp. Not far from the shore of the Szczecin Lagoon, you cycle almost without any ascents to your destination for the day, Ueckermünde.
