The ship MS Anna Maria V

The small but very charming MS Anna Maria V is excellently suited for boating along the French canals and has everything you need from a boat while you're on tour. The Dutch captain takes you to a new destination every day and you will be spoiled with French and international cuisine cooked on board by a French chef. Relax on the sun deck and watch the French countryside slowly pass you by. Treat yourself to a pleasant drink in the saloon bar and enjoy chatting to your fellow crew members!

Day 1: Individual arrival in Paris and bus transfer to Cours-les-Barres

At the Gare du Nord station, you are picked up by bus at approx. 3 pm, possibly leaving you with enough time to gain an initial impression of Paris beforehand. You arrive in Cours-les-Barres early in the evening, where the boat, MS Anna Maria IV, is at anchor. The crew welcomes everyone warmly to then serve an evening meal.

Day 2: Round trip Cours-les Barres, approx. 50 km

The first leg of the cycle trip takes you to Apremont, with its castle and magnificent gardens. Next, you cycle on to Nevers, which invites you to make a stop to see its sights, such as the square tower including the Barbacane (Port du Croux), the city tower, which is part of the medieval fortification and numerous town houses, before returning to the boat.

Day 3: Cours-les Barres – Beffes (by boat), Beffes – Ménétréol, approx. 55 km

First of all you can sit back and enjoy the boat trip to Beffes. Next, you get back on to your bike and cycle to the old Roman town, La Charité-sur-Loire. Standing on the stone bridge, which was built in the 16th century, you will get a fascinating view over the town. The cycle tour continues past the famous vineyards of the PouillyFumé wines taking you to the village of Ménétréol, at the foot of the Sancerrevineyards, where you return to the boat.

Day 4: Ménétréol – Sancerre (by boat), Sancerre – Beaulieu, approx. 50 km

You start the day with a boat trip to the pretty village of Sancerre, which has been a wine-producing area for 2000 years. Here you get back on your bikes. The picturesque cycle route continues past the Sancerre vineyards, through many wine villages, before you finally reach your destination in Beaulieu.

Day 5: Beaulieu – St. Brisson, approx. 40 km, St. Brisson – Briare (by boat)

Today, you cycle along the small, historic locks of Châtillon-sur-Loire, continuing on to the canal bridge that crosses the Loire. Enjoy the wonderful fresh air in the woods of St. Brisson, before you  return to the boat. In the evening, the journey by boat takes you over the magnificent aqueduct, which has been in existence since the 19th century. It is 662 metres in length and crosses the Loire. This is something to experience before arriving in Briare.

Day 6: Briare ‒ Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses, approx. 45 km

Spend the morning in a more relaxed way, wandering through Briare. The cycle path then takes you to the Pont Chevron castle, which is beautifully situated on the banks of a lake. Via Ouzouer-sur-Trézée you cycle on through an area rich with small lakes, past Bléneau castle to Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses with its 7 historic locks.

Day 7: Round trip Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses, approx. 50 km

Today, the market in Châtillon-Coligny tempts you to make a visit, before you cycle on to the castle of La Bussière, which was built in the 12th century. The return journey leads you through delightful countryside, past the small village of Escrignelles to the boat in Rogny.

Day 8: Bus transfer to Paris and individual departure

Spend the morning taking a short walk before you are picked up at about 11 a.m. for the return journey to Paris by bus. Arrival in Paris is at approximately 2 pm, depending on traffic. This is where your boat and bike tour along the Loire river ends.
