Day 1: Individual arrival in Copenhagen
Velkommen til København! As one of the oldest capitals in the world, the city impresses with a perfect mix of historical ambience and modern cosmopolitanism. A perfect place to start your bike tour on Aealand! After checking in at the hotel, grab your bike and explore the city centre. The royal Amalienborg Palace, the nostalgic amusement park Tivoli, the magnificent Rosenborg Slot with the Crown Jewels or the alternative free city Christiania – the earlier you arrive, the better, there is a lot to see!
Day 2: Copenhagen – Køge, approx. 55 km
On the first stage of your bike tour on Sealand you cycle along the coast to Køge with the Baltic Sea in view. Take your swimsuit with you! There are numerous picturesque beaches along the way. Your destination for the day, Køge, is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Denmark. Once built by royal order, the picturesque townscape still features numerous half-timbered houses from the 16th and 17th centuries. The oldest dates from 1527 and is also Denmark's oldest house. It measures only four by five metres. In the local museum, testimonies of local history are brought back to life.
Day 3: Excursion to Stevns peninsula, approx. 55 km + train ride
Today you will get to know the Stevns peninsula. The chalk cliffs Stevns Klint are particularly worth seeing. Up to 41 metres high, they are interesting for researchers. They provide information about the extinction of the dinosaurs many millions of years ago. Leave your bike at the legendary church of Højerup and follow a path to the stony beach. Enjoy the unique view. With a bit of luck, you will find a fossil or two. Back on the bike, you cycle via Rødvig to Faxe Ladeplads. By direct train connection you can start the return journey (not included) to Køge.
Day 4: Køge – Roskilde, approx. 35 km
On today's stage of your bike tour on Sealand you first cycle to Karlstrup. There you will meet the Hedebostien cycle path. It leads you to the centre of Roskilde, your destination for today. Visit the cathedral, visible from afar. Completed around 1280, it was Scandinavia's first Gothic cathedral made of brick. The imposing building is the traditional burial place of Danish kings and queens. The city was once an important trading centre for the Vikings. The first-class Viking Ship Museum at the harbour displays, among other things, five ships that were sunk in Roskilde Fjord for defensive purposes in the mid-11th century.
Day 5: Exploration of Roskilde Fjord, approx. 25 - 50 km + train ride
The fourth stage of your bike tour on Sealand offers you different ways to spend the day. The shortest route takes you to Lejre. Sagnlandet Lejre, the land of legends, is an open-air laboratory for experimental archaeology. The living conditions of different historical eras are explored and shown by scholars and lay people living there. If you want to spend your day on your bike, you can cycle to Holbæk on the Iseflord or to Frederikssund in North Sealand. Whichever you choose, you can return to Roskilde in comfort by train (not included).
Day 6: Roskilde – Copenhagen, approx. 35 – 45 km
Today you cycle back to Copenhagen at a leisurely pace. Treat yourself to a walk through the picturesque harbour district with its colourful houses at the end of your bike tour on Sealand. The most famous sight and at the same time landmark of the city is the Little Mermaid. The bronze figure has been sitting on a granite rock at the Old Harbour for more than 100 years. Or how about an extensive canal and harbour tour?
