On our active bike tour along the Aare you will get to know one of the most popular cycling routes in Switzerland. You follow the course of Switzerland's largest river mostly close to the shore and, thanks to the well-developed and almost gradient-free cycle path, you make rapid progress at an average of 80 kilometres per stage. Our bike tour along the Aare begins in Interlaken. Accompanied by the peaks of the Bernese Oberland, you first follow the shore of Lake Thun, which leads you to the Aare. Day 1: Individual arrival in Interlaken
Welcome to the heart of Switzerland! Situated between Lakes Thun and Brienz, Interlaken is the ideal starting point for a bike tour along the Aare. The town's local mountain is the Harder Kulm. You can reach its viewing platform comfortably by funicular. Enjoy the impressive mountain panorama of the surrounding Bernese Oberland. The Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch mountains in particular will catch your eye.

Day 2: Interlaken – Bern, approx. 60 km
Along the shores of Lake Thun, the first stage of your active bike tour along the Aare leads you first to the small town of Thun. Pay a visit to Thun Castle with its mighty residential tower. You cycle briskly along the Aare to Bern. The old town of the Swiss capital is particularly worth seeing. Stroll along the kilometre-long shopping promenade, take a look at the Zytglog Tower and visit the Bern Cathedral, from whose 100-metre-high tower you have a fabulous view of the old town surrounded by the Aare.

Day 3: Bern – Solothurn, approx. 80 km
After turning your back on Bern, you pass Lake Wohlensee and follow the Aare to Biel. The bilingual city is known worldwide for its watch industry. Discover the many fountains in the city, try the Bieler Bsetzisteine and treat yourself to a dip in the cool waters of Lake Biel. We continue along the meanders of the Aare to Solothurn. The capital of the canton of the same name is considered the most beautiful baroque city in Switzerland. The number 11 has a special meaning for Solothurn: in addition to 11 churches and chapels, 11 museums and 11 towers are part of the cityscape.

Day 4: Solothurn – Waldshut-Tiengen, approx. 100 km
The last stage of your bike tour along the Aare is mainly dominated by an idyllic landscape. Along the Aare meandering through fertile fields and meadows you reach Aarau. Stroll through the former capital of Switzerland, dubbed the city of beautiful gables – it's worth looking up! Continue on to the moated castle of Switzerland. Here the rivers Aare, Reuss and Limmat meet and form a generous river landscape. With Koblenz you reach the High Rhine. Your destination Waldshut-Tiengen is a stone's throw away.

Day 5: Individual departure or extension of stay
After breakfast, your bike tour along the Aare already ends. We are happy to extend your stay in Interlaken, Waldshut-Tiengen or one of the other overnight destinations with an extra night.
